EastEnders' next big long-running characters?
We have Ian, Dot, Sharon & Phil currently, but who out of the current cast, old or new, is set to become the next long-runner and will appear for decades to come?
I feel Ronnie and Roxy aren't going anywhere. Max, Denise, Shirley and Ben I also see going for the next 10-20 years or so. I also think the extended Carter family will be gone and forgotten in 5 years. None of them (except Nancy) seem like they would want to stay long-time. |

I don't think Ronnie will stay that long. Not sure about Harry Reid; he seems like an unknown so may want to try other things in the wake of his EastEnders success. Linda Henry is a big name who has nearly quit before; she may well go with DTC and/or the bulk of the Carters.
I'd agree with Denise, Max and Roxy. Maybe Shabnam? |

It always depends on the actor. Producers might have big plans for some characters but if the actor decided to go there isn't a lot that can be done.
Saying that it looks like Max, Denise, Roxy and Shirley aren't going anywhere anytime soon and all have been around for a while. |

Billy is already a long running character, 17 years. Patrick, Max and Denise are well on their way, as is Shirley. The Mitchell sisters hopefully.

I'd say the likes of Max, Denise and Shirley are already long-running.
As for newer characters, I can't see many with the staying power, but I'd love to be proved wrong. Carters for life please. |

I think it is impossible to predict because you never know who might leave and when.
Billy, Max, Denise, Shirley and Patrick as said above are all long standing characters already. Personally I would like to see Denise and Shirley staying around for the long-haul. They are already long running characters but i'd personally like to see them stay for many many years yet. They have their place in EastEnders history imo. Charlie could become a 'big' long-running character (if the actor stays on), esp with his link to Dot/Nick and now Ronnie. |

I can't see Danny Dyer sticking for the long haul and that may effect the other actors. What I don't like is some leave and other stay and you get a disjoinyted family which has happened to all of them on the square. Its seems noone is brave enough to axe popular characters that float about.
I think Max, Roxy, Denise and Shirley will be around for a long time Ronnie - depends on storylines. I think she said she had done everything she wasnted to do in an interview (south pacific and more comedy) so unless a future porducer upsets her I can't see why she won't be around for a while now (I can't see Sam playing Ronnie in her 60's though). I think Kat and Stacey are now in for the long haul as well both now seem settled. I think if teh cast are happy (which they seem to be again now) then they have no reason to leave especially if they get the time off to do pantos, other work etc... |

Danny Dyer has said he is sticking around for the long haul but I'm not sure. He has had such a varied career already that he might eventually get bored. Producers have no choice when an actor chooses to go.
As for disjointed families this annoys me too, however if an actor chooses to leave it is a bit unfair to axe the rest of the family because of it. That's why I say they should have killed off Bianca, then her family could have stayed and we would never have to see the silver puffer jacket ever again! |

I missed Masood from my list. I think Nitin would like to stay long term, and that is why they should bring Nina back...but only if she is going to commit long term.

As for bringing people back I say it on here all the time but that can only happen IF the actor wants to come back. All these threads saying "bring back (insert EE name here)" are pointless if the actor doesn't want to return. |

Lauren should definitely on that list. She's not going anywhere.

Two questions
- who is a mediocre actor/actress? - who is within one of the key families? The first because they won't get a decent job elsewhere. The second means likely character will be needed. It isn't always true as producer can decide to kill character like Lucy but it is rare. |
