Nordic Combined from Ruka, Finland

Saturday 10:00 & 14:00 Men's Gundersen
Sunday 09:45 & 13:00 Men's Gundersen

Cross-Country Skiing from Ruka, Finland. British team will be in action. Andrew Musgrave had a 5th position in a equivalent Norwegian 15k preliminary event last weekend, so should have a decent finish on Sunday.

Saturday 11:30 - Men's and women's Classic Sprint
Sunday 08:30 Women's 10K Classic time trial
Sunday 11:00 Men's 15K Classic time trial

Alpine skiing - The men's event from Lake Louise, Canada was called off for lack of snow, the women's event in Killington, Vermont goes ahead. Is this Michaela Schifrin's home track? I think she is from Vermont.

Saturday 14:30 & 17:30 Ladies Giant Slalom
Sunday 14:30 & 17:30 Ladies Giant Slalom

and finally

Biathlon!!!! is back! From Ostersund, Sweden. Two preliminary races before the main event kicks off in mid-week. We might get both live, or neither, depending on the results of the tennis.

Sunday 14:30 - Mixed Relay (ie teams of 2W 2M, full loops)
Sunday 17:10 - Single Mixed Relay (1W 1M, short loops)

All guaranteed live on Eurovision Sports or YouTube

Incidentally, just renewed my Eurosport Player Sub - they have a deal of £19.99 for a whole year's sub! Would recommend it for winter sports fans, there's a lot of events on the Player that aren't on the TV, especially when there's event overlaps like this weekend, and they have a VOD catchup service as well.

Worth thinking about; especially as today's live Ski-jumping has been squeezed out by snooker. Thankfully I can fall back on ZDF or Eurosport Germany this time, but if Eurosport want to continue to be the "home of wintersports" in UK, they need to sort out the preference they have given to snooker this weekend, and presumably next as well.

Can't think why they even scheduled it, given that they were never going to cut away mid-session. There is absolutely no way they are going to be showing any biathlon tomorrow.

We didn't get to see it because of the old gas cooker overrunning, but Britain's Alexandra Tilley has just nailed a 21st place in the Killington Giant Slalom, which I think is a PB. First British woman skier to get WC points since Chemmy Alcott, now doing the Eurosport commentary.

Sadly I agree. I wonder why, when BBC2 are covering the snooker live on Sunday afternoon, they feel the need to duplicate when there is live biathlon to be shown.

I for one am even happier I've got access to ARD / ZDF and Eurosport Germany.

They have changed the rules to make it harder for the Norwegians to get 8 athletes in the top 10, now they can only get a maximum of 6. Very promising result for Team GB's Andrew Musgrave, 10th in a classic race is his PB in that technique. A few more good results like this and the team will start to get lottery funding, which will make everything a lot easier.

Oh really?
But different for men since 8 of them competed?

If I subscribe to Eurosport player, will I be able to watch events like the mixed Biathlon relay which was booted off by interminable snooker?
Is it streamed live or do they show reruns?
Also I have slow internet so is it possible to download?

For some crazy reason Eurosport Player yesterday was showing the extra biathlon streams (ie different camera angles, and a permanent camera at the shooting range) but not the main stream! And although they have a replay facility, it only shows things that were live in the first place, so they have got the single mixed relay up, but not the full mixed relay. It's hugely frustrating.

The only way I was able to watch was by using a rather dodgy re-stream from L'Equipe, the French Channel. The stream on the Biathlonworld.com website has now unblocked itself though, so you can watch there. I don't think you can download, but you can choose to watch on low-def.

I watched the Biathlon Mixed Relay last night using the stream from BiathlonWorld.com. It streamed fairly well, with only a few pauses, and the picture quality wasn't that bad, obviously fairly low-def. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Eurosport commentary with Mike and Patrick - I thought it might have been just the raw feed. The bonus was no commercial breaks, so we got to see every bit of the race. Thanks for pointing me to this.

OK, that's interesting. They have obviously done some kind of deal whereby they geo-block it live so they can get the commentary as a permanent archive. So that's probably better for the viewers in the long run because at least it is always accessible somewhere.

Anyway, two mid-week floodlit races from Ostersund, snooker permitting.

Wednesday 16:45 Women's 15k Individual
Thursday 16:45 Men's 20k individual.

Then sprints on Saturday and pursuits on Sunday.

Probably a bit too late to schedule a baby as well.

Live stream is back working today, still with the Eurosport commentary. Saving it up for after work!

Very busy weekend coming up, so an early post to round up the Friday morning action. Fortunately the snooker is coming to an end, so we get a lot more coverage. In order of appearance...

Sunday - Men's Large Hill Gundersen

Alpine skiing - Men's event is rescheduled from North America to Val d'Isere.
Women's is from Lake Louise, Canada. There's a couple of make-up races as well, so check for late changes to your programme guide.

Friday - Men's Super G & Women's Downhill
Saturday - Men's Downhill & Women's Downhill
Sunday - Men's Giant Slalom & Women's Super G

Cross Country from Lillehammer. It's a three-race mini tour.

More for the weekend

Speed skating - World Cup III from Astana, Kazakhstan, live at the moment.
http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/isu/Speed%20Skating/

Luge - This weekend from Lake Placid, some races live and highlights on Eurosport, all live and streamed on http://video.fil-luge.org/index.html

Friday - Doubles & Men
Saturday - Women & Relay

Freestyle skiing - Another city centre evening Big Air event, this time from Moenchengladbach (aka Some Town in Germany). Highlights on Eurosport

Friday - Women's and Men's Big Air.

Skeleton & Bobsleigh - Live from Whistler, British Columbia, so US West Coast time, all races late night or early morning.

Another of the big British medal hopes, usually some of the races get picked up by the BBC Red Button and streaming in the second half of the season but for now it will be You Tube only. Presentation is usually excellent though. If you can't watch live, the videos usually get re-edited and added to YouTube about 3-4 hours after the live stream.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkr...up_LfDV7hOQWsg

Friday
22:00 & 23:30 Women's skeleton

Saturday
02:00 & 03:30 Two men bob
18:00 & 19:30 Men's skeleton
22:00 & 23:30 Women's bob

Sunday
02:00 & 03:30

And finally....

Biathlon - More live from Ostersund, Eurosport should be on time this weekend, and even if the live streams are blocked, they are free to view a few hours later.

http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/

Saturday
Women sprint & Men sprint
Sunday
Women pursuit & Men pursuit
