Whilst pairs of brothers and sisters competing aren't that uncommon (Fourcard, Boe and Hautmaeki come quickly to mind), apart from for the Prevc brothers I can only think of the three Gasparin sisters in Biathlon for another example of 3 sibblings competing in the same event.
There used to be four Santer sisters on the Italian team - three in biathlon and one in cross-country.

Couple of other good results over the weekend, Lamin Deen and team got a 6th in the 4-Man Bob, and Andrew Musgrave got a 15th in the Cross Country Mass Start in La Clusaz.

There's still quite a few events on between now and Christmas,

Alpine Skiing
Monday - Men's Parallel Slalom from Alto Badia
Tuesday - Women's Giant Slalom from Courcheval
Thursday - Men's Slalom from Madonna di Campiglio

Ski Cross - Think this is the first season in years when they have been able to run a full schedule without cancellations.

Wednesday & Thursday - Races from Innichen, Italy.

Königssee will host the 2017 IBSF WCh between 13 and 26 February.

After that, the last round of the Skeleton World Cup will take place in Pyeongchang on 17 March.

Just watching now, it's a guy called Frank Andre (not sure of the spelling) who I think is an ex-pro and a regular e-mailer that David refers to a lot during commentary,

And there is yet another Prevc brother!!!!
So is Frank the famous "Frank in Spain (?)"?? I notice David's startng to pick up on his "He's a bit in and out" which we'll be adding to the ski jumping bingo sheet for when we traverse the corridor of tolerance, leap through the window of opportunity and land safely on the cushion of advantage

That's after counter punching in the second round!

Don't want criticise David Goldstrom too much, for someone who's never actually done the sport he is amazingly knowledgeable, and at least listens to experts and learns and adapts as he goes along; and his sheer enthusiasm makes up for the odd "Goldstrom Balls" moment.

There are far tool many commentators talking abject rubbish about a sport of which they have comparatively little knowledge. Rob Walker covering nordic skiiing for the BBC during the 2014 games was a classic example. Without Patrick Winterton at his side he was deadly!

2nd again for Hirscher which he is probably not too happy about, but he still had an excellent start to season and a 250 p lead in the overall cup, looking good for his SIXTH consecutive win!

The IOC have begun disciplinary proceedings against 28 Russian athletes from Sochi 2014 for manipulating samples. No names or sports yet, but quite possibly some nice Xmas surprises for some non-Russian athletes.

https://www.olympic.org/news/ioc-sta...rom-sochi-2014

Also, the Russian Biathlon Union have decided not to host their scheduled World Junior Champs and World Cup meets this year, which the IBU will now reassign. And some more pending bans, no names yet.

http://www.biathlonworld.com/news/de...-board-meeting

But wait, there's more, very tough on a man typing on an ipad. 6 Russian Cross-Country skiers are also banned, no names or details yet.

Events for the weekend and up until mid-week, for us couch potatoes.

Cross Country Skiing

It's the Tour de Ski, like a cycling Tour, a seven stage overarching competition with each individual competition also counting for World Cup points, with a combination of different styles, distances and race formats.

Saturday - Freestyle sprints from Val Mustair
Sunday - Classic 5k & 10k mass starts from Val Mustair
Tuesday - Skiathlon (ie both styles with a transition) mass starts from Oberstdorf
Wednesday - Freestyle 10k & 15k pursuits from Oberstdorf

Ski Jumping

Four Hills continues

Saturday - Qualifying from Garmisch
Sunday - Final from Garmisch
Tuesday- Qualifying from Innbruck
Wednesday - Final from Innsbruck
Thursday - Qualifying from Bischofshofen
Friday - Final from Bishofshofen

Alpine Skiing.

Two slaloms from Zagreb

Tuesday - Women's slalom
Thursday - Men's slalom

Biathlon from Oberhof

Thursday - Men's sprint
Friday - Women's sprint

And then back to a normal full program next weekend.

Good competition in fair conditions for all the competitors.

Stefan Kraft was good, but hasn't opened a massive margin on the rest of the top 10, and with Kamil Stoch returning to form it look as though it should be a tournee that goes right to the wire in Bischofshofen.

Good to see Peter Prevc returning to something like a decent performance, but on the other hand Domen had a total misfire. Didn't see Cene coming out as top Prevc!

Quali in Garmisch coming up today, weather again doesn't look too bad, but don't expects to see any "real" snow!

From a coverage standpoint I do wish that Eurosport would carry the German (or other language) interviews and other live pieces in original language, rather than have David Goldstrom ham his way through a translation, which often bears scant relation to what was actually said; and for the prerecorded pieces subtitled. OK, I'm biased as I can understand the German - but have a job with some of the Austrian, and especially Schweizerdeutsch dialects but I'd rather hear what's actually said, whether or not i fully understand. having Frank Andre on hand, or down the line would have been good too, for the technical aspects. Aside this little gripe David Goldstrom's enthusiasm makes the whole thing very watchable.

Looks like the two Andrews, Musgrave and Young, are set to qualify in the top 15 for this afternoon's sprints in Val Mustair, which should set them up to at least get past the first round. Think Andrew Musgrave should be looking for an overall top 10 finish in the TdS, Andrew Young will probably drop out after the shorter stages. Coming up after the ski jumps qualifiers at 14:15.

And am wondering when, rather than if, we are going to see all three Prevc brothers in the top 10 in Ski Jump World Cup. It would be interesting to know if that has ever been achieved in a top world-level event in any Olympic sport.

YES!!! Both the Andrews win their first heats, through to the semis!

And they both get gubbed in the semis, , still a good day, though. Musgrave sets himself up for the overall, Young needs time to build stamina for the Worlds after being ill earlier in the season.

I would say within the next 24 hours, judging by the qualification this afternoon!

Currently in 7th place after what theoretically were weak races for him. Unfortunately the men's race tomorrow Is not scheduled to be live on Eurosport - at 14:15 - because of the overlap from the Jumping and the Slalom.

Oh dear, classic commentator's curse in the women's slalom. "Olympic champion, two times World Champion and surely, Ed, she has got the World Cup in the bag, and her third victory here in Zagreb is on the card....oh no, she's out!!!!"

So at last someone other than Mikaela Shiffrin gets a chance to win a slalom race.

A tough day's work for Musgrave, was in danger of getting cut off at the end of the classic leg, but put in a hard 5k and got back on terms. 19th in the final, but well in the pack at only 15 secs down, so retains his 7th place overall.
