Lizzy did a Sochi and produced the fastest run in every heat - even breaking the Track Record twice! Intriguingly, said TR belonged to a certain Shelley Rudman, who set it in the same season she became World Champion herself (in St Moritz).

Her nearest challengers were both just 20 years of age. Silver medallist Jacqueline Lölling has never competed in the World Cup, but she did trade wins with Lizzy back in the 2010-11 European Cup at just 15 years of age. Reminds me of Marion Thees (slow pusher, brillant driver).

Bronze medallist Elisabeth Vathje caps her first ever WC season with a podium spot, just as Lizzy did in 2012. As you alluded to, she was the closest challenger halfway through (Elena Nikitina almost did the same in Sochi last year).

In becoming a simultaneous Olympic/World/European Champion and overall World Cup runner-up (+ previous win), Lizzy matches what only Maya Pedersen achieved in 2006. Not bad company to have.

The helmet was a nice touch as well.

Touted as the clash between Martins Dukurs and Alexander Tretiakov, and so it proved. At no point did anyone get between those two, and it was Dukurs that came out on top, regaining the world title Tretiakov took from him two years ago (he is now a three-time World Champion).

For the first time, both Dukurs can share a WCh podium as the elder brother (Tomass) finally wins a global championship medal to boot!

Just caught up with the 4-man bob from the weekend. A fantastic performance from Lamin Deen to get 5th, beaten only by the three German sleds and the Latvian World Cup winners Hopefully there will be good funding for the team next year, they are promising a lot because we now have two world class pilots and a solid core amongst the crew.

Britain's Lee-Steve Jackson got his PB of 39th, in the Men's Individual yesterday, the first Brit to get World Cup points since Mike Dixon in the late 1990s. Mike's son Scott Dixon got 78th, and shot 18/20.

And also in the World Cup Points was Liz Stevenson in the Ski Cross from Megeve, France. in the two events run over the weekend, she was 14th and 11th.

Unfortunately Dave Ryding was only 36th in the first run of the men's slalom at Kranjska Gora on Sunday, so missed his chance to qualify for the World Cup Final next weekend - he finished the season in 30th in the Slalom World Cup.

Last weekends snowboard cross was good. One of the jumpers went over the side fence. Luckily no one was badly injured.

So...the last big weekend of the season. After this, we'll be living on scraps.

So a great end to the season this morning with three major events - the Ski Jump overall, women's biathlon overall and women's alpine overall - all going down to the very last bit of action.

It's been a great season for Britain as well - we have definitely taken a step forward since Sochi and even this early it's looking like we are going to Korea with a about a dozen medal chances.

There's still a couple of things left - the Figure Skating World Champs from Shanghai start on Wednesday and the men's curling worlds next week. There's a a biathlon invitational race in Tula, Russia in early April, will look out for coverage.

Eurosport have highlights of the Birkenbeiner, a cross-country mass participation marathon race, Monday morning 10:30.

If you are missing having some winter sports to watch at the weekends, here's a couple of things you probably won't have seen.

Team GB Ice Hockey start off their World Championships campaign in Eindhoven, the Netherlands today - we are in Division 1 Group B [ie the Third Division of World Ice Hockey] along with Croatia, the Netherlands, South Korea, Lithuania and Estonia. First game is against Croatia. The aim is to win the Group, thus securing promotion to Division 1 Group A, the Second Division.

And Team GB's first game looks like it was a cracker - they came back from 2-0 down, scored the equaliser with 5 seconds to go in regular time and went on to score immediately in the 11th second of sudden death overtime!

Excellent win by Team GB today, this time last year Croatia were beating us 4-0. A good start to the tourney, let's hope we can continue it tomorrow when we play Estonia, which should be another good game to watch.

So we keep our winning start going. Day off tomorrow, then we play South Korea at 16:00 on Thursday. They beat Estonia 7-3 yesterday, so it looks tough. Plenty very vocal British fans out there, though.

South Korea are putting a lot of money into the hockey program to get it up to scratch for the next Olympics, they are hosts, but want to have a team that is at least competitive. I can see GB winning that game though, a win would put us in a great position to get back to 1A.

I've seen the penalty shot on youtube, what was he thinking? He can't of been thinking to have taken that idea from practice to game, if he had missed, every chance of him being benched..
