So I've just had a look on BARB and it looks like EE is now the #1 soap again. Looking at Monday and Friday episodes only, the last time Corrie beat EE was 12th September. It's still quite close though and EE isn't miles ahead but it's still good to see that it's taken over Corrie, which is dire atm.

Not very shocking. This was inevitable under the stewardship of The Hat. Hopefully this signals the beginning of the end for him though I wouldn't hold my breath.

They go through ups and downs quite a lot. Corrie has been dire for a long time while Eastenders has picked up a bit lately. I don't really care who is at the top as I watch them both and all this "oooooo look my soap is beating your soap" stuff really gets on my t***s!

What is this obsession with ratings? who gives a stuff really other than the broadcaster? None of the ratings recorded are realistic BARB or otherwise. People watch at leisure nowadays through various formats and at different times as the majority of them have more going on in their life than obsession with their fav soaps potential ratings. Comments on good acting, bad acting, storyline quality etc I can understand but this ratings thing is redundant, boring and pointless.

Corrie is still ahead in the ratings, i think you have forgot to add in itv hd ratings which are listed seperate. BBC hd ratings are automatically are added in. Hope this helps

I get bored of these threads about ratings.

However I agree that EastEnders should be rating higher than Corrie as the latter has been terrible for a few months now.

I still enjoy parts of it but EastEnders on the whole is a far more superior show.

I hope Corrie does improve though as it's great to see soaps all doing well the same time as they all seem to boost eachother.

You've finally learned, huh? Anyone around here who says otherwise is a witch and should be burned.

That's not really surprising.

Corrie has only one major storyline (Tina's murder) which will be wrapped up in the next week or so.

EastEnders had Phil being shot, Slater housefire, the ongoing Linda rape storyline, the ongoing Lucy murder investigation, Lauren's stalker and soon Nick's return.

Yes, a bit of evidence to back up the OP's assertion would've been nice.

I only watch ee it's good to here. Judging by amount of threads on here I thin itv should axe one soap and just stick to the one and make it as good as possible. Plus clashes with em are ridiculous and they should be on at different times. I don't think 1 channel really needs more then 1 continuous soap tbh

I'm surprised Emmerdale time shifts so little compared to the other soaps. According to BARB stats 65% of the Emmerdale audience is also over 50! what happens when that generation dies out!!

Corrie is rubbish at present and doesn't really deserve to be number one, but unfortunately you've forgotten to add ITV HD to the ratings. Unlike BBC One, ITV doesn't include HD ratings automatically. Around a million people watch Corrie on ITV HD.

The top rated Coronation Street episode got 8.35m, compared to 7.76m for Eastenders.

HD figures for Coronation Street which need to be added to get the full totals:

6 CORONATION STREET (MON 1931) 1,053
7 CORONATION STREET (MON 2030) 1,034
8 CORONATION STREET (FRI 1931) 1,017
9 CORONATION STREET (WED 1931) 971
10 CORONATION STREET (FRI 2031) 898

All soaps have ups and downs.

Eastenders is the only soap I watch and therefore I am happy that the quality has improved. I couldnt give a toss if its beating corrie in the ratings or not.

Its the same with the soap awards, people seem to make a big thing about ut but I dont care whether the majority of people prefer another soap. I am not a sheep or a glory hunter.

Just proves more people watch EastEnders on catch up etc...

It doesn't surprise me, Corrie has been amazing these past couple of weeks, but it isn't enough, it will be dire again soon, with what's coming up.

I fear once this happens a whole can of worms will be opened up. Sometimes over a million watch EE on iplayer. It should push EE right ahead of Corrie but no doubt will kick of some serious sour grapes from people branding it unfair.

seconded. the soap wars are getting boring. I agree with every point you make. as last year was pure hell as an EastEnders fan, it's nice to see such an improvement. couldn't give a stuff about the ratings as it's not in any danger of cancellation. I love corrie too although I haven't been watching regularly as it's pretty crap at the moment but I think itv will soon take action and again it's far from being in danger of cancellation.

why can't people enjoy their soaps without putting other soaps down.

No idea, I don't know why some people make such a big thing about it. With soaps there's no reason why you should be smug if you're soap is top in the ratings because it could be a totally different story the following week.

I don't get the stereotyping of the viewers on here either, corrie fans must be old fogies, holly oak fans must be teeny boppers and Eastenders fans must be complete nutters etc.

I really hate it when people start badmouthing the fans of a soap, sometimes you see the little digs on here and it's uncalled for iMo.

so true. i always wonder what I'd be known as as I watch most of them. am I an old fogey teenie bopping nutter then? ? lol.

EastEnders is my no1 but I have a special place in my heart for corrie and I really can't see why there's such rivalry. they're completely different
