Does Mark actually go on the tasks?

The only reason I know of Solomon is because he was brought back into the final three last week.
Then you have the likes of Scott and Lindsay who only featured in the episodes because they were being fired. I've found myself thinking "who cares?" at the five fired. We're a quarter of the way through the series, and I still don't know anything about the above or what they've contributed to the tasks and the show. They're clearly performing well whilst keeping their heads down hence why they're being ignored, but how are we suppose to root for them or care that they've been fired when they only come to the forefront in their one and only episode?
