As for selling out, I don't get that either. Taylor sold over a million in her first week with her last 3 albums, all of which were very different in style and sound. She didn't need to go pop, the success and sales were there. She could have kept doing albums like Speak Now or Red forever and people would have bought them in their millions. Going pop was actually a bold risk for Taylor, because a lot of her previous sales would have been from her country fan base.”
As mich as I love Red, I completely agreed. We Are Never Getting Back Together, alongside Begin Again, alongside 22, alongside The Lucky One etc. Great songs, but all sound pretty different. On the flip side, you can clearly hear the theme and the sound she was aiming for on 1989.
Agree with you on the sell-out comments. She's not sold out at all. No matter what she does, it will sell well. She is already loaded, so isn't doing it for the money. This is simply an album she's always wanted to make. She's 24 - nearly 25, she wasn't going to be doing the sweet, country-pop thing forever.
