Doesn't look like I can check the album out on Spotify, which is pretty annoying.

Sounds like a poorly put together manufactured pop album
The production and the poor lyrical content leave little to be desired.

Whether the her music sells millions around the world or not, the quality of her music i believe gets worse each album. Just shows how a bit fickle the buying public can be. Do country music, they don't care. Move on to pop music, your suddenly the best thing in pop at the moment and more successful then ever. She just continues to sound more like a record label puppet.

It's very samey tbh.

I do like it, but it doesn't live up to the hype for me. Red is on another level compared to it.

Stand outs for me are Style, Shake It Off and I like Bad Blood. Everything is quite samey though, as others have pointed out.

I really really like this album. It's the kind of album I've been missing this year, a solid pop album with personality. I like the dark undercurrent to a lot of the songs.

This!

Liked her early work, and parts of RED (Not the radio singles)

I'm not a Taylor fan in the slightest but this is actually a very coherent, solid collection of songs.

Its giving me Teenage Dream vibes, as in, a lot of the songs are single worthy and could smash. Look at itunes, she has 7 different songs top 10. I predict that I Know Places is going to be a HUGE hit for her. I've been humming the chorus all night

I don't like the girl or anything but you've got to give it to her, she's done well here.

Blank Spaces remains brilliant to me. I think I've had it on repeat for over a day.

The little pen click is brilliant isn't it?

If anybody living in the UK Sainsburys are selling the Deluxe version of the album for £12,99

Yes! That, the bridge and the chorus (I'm not used to such meaty choruses in pop songs - that still manage to be catchy and make me want to listen long enough to learn the lyrics).

Listened to this lots over the past 2 days and it's truly brilliant. Don't agree at all with those saying the songs sound the same. It's s very cohesive album and intentionally so, and I think Taylor wanted the songs to flow into each other like a story almost, but each song has it's own identity.

I think she's took a bold risk, cause even though it's pop it's nothing like anyone else is doing in the pop game right now. But that's why it's so brilliant. Lots of potential singles from this album.

My problem with the album is the fact that all the music sounds the same. It just sounds like one big medley blended together.

OMG What a album. I started to like Taylor Swift during her Red album promo campaign and I now I am a fan. " Shake it off" is one of most catchiest pop songs in recent pop History. This album is a huge shift from her " Red" routes and it was a gamble but it has paid off. Almost every song on this album can be a single . My Fav songs on the album are " Shake it off" " Out of the woods" " All you had to do was stay" " New Romantics" and " Bad Blood" . These are the ones which stick in my mind so far. The album does have all the same sound but that isn't a bad thing. The only negative here and I am being picky is that there are almost to many good songs if that makes sense ?? God knows how she will choose future singles. However my bets are that " Out of the Woods" and " New Romantics" will both be singles . This album is a must for all pop fans and cant wait for her tour

After a couple of listens, I'm not sure whether '1989' shines as a coherent album, but 'Style' (track 3), 'Wildest Dreams' (track 9), 'I Know Places' (track 12) and 'New Romantics' (track 16 on the Target / International deluxe edition) have good lyrics and great melodies.

Blank Space has been announced as the second single! I predict this will do really well too.

Fantastic chorus and comical lyrics, one of my favourites off the new album.

I dont like this as an album. It's just been made to have hit after hit, and for someone who used to make brilliant albums, it's a shame. I've never known someone to kinda sell out so much.

I mean, it would be a good "Greatest Hits" kinda thing, with all her hits, but it's not a cohesive album like Speak Now and Flawless. Even Red was more cohesive than this.

Welcome To New York is my favourite, though.

She isn't selling out. Taylor was selling more than everyone else anyway with her old material so how is she selling out? People have been saying she's been more pop than country anyway for years now, and she's just trying out something new. And it's not as if she's doing stereotypical pop that means nothing, it's well written and has depth to it.

I don't get comments like this. It's her most cohesive album EVER if you ask me. Red was nowhere near as cohesive as this. I suggest you listen again.

As for selling out, I don't get that either. Taylor sold over a million in her first week with her last 3 albums, all of which were very different in style and sound. She didn't need to go pop, the success and sales were there. She could have kept doing albums like Speak Now or Red forever and people would have bought them in their millions. Going pop was actually a bold risk for Taylor, because a lot of her previous sales would have been from her country fan base.

As mich as I love Red, I completely agreed. We Are Never Getting Back Together, alongside Begin Again, alongside 22, alongside The Lucky One etc. Great songs, but all sound pretty different. On the flip side, you can clearly hear the theme and the sound she was aiming for on 1989.

Agree with you on the sell-out comments. She's not sold out at all. No matter what she does, it will sell well. She is already loaded, so isn't doing it for the money. This is simply an album she's always wanted to make. She's 24 - nearly 25, she wasn't going to be doing the sweet, country-pop thing forever.

I've pretty much considered her to be a pop artist certainly after her first album.

Just seen the video for Blank Space and what a great one it is! I'm so glad she made the full transition to pop because it suits her well. The song is still brilliant and the video made it better.

The video is so good! It was released too early by Yahoo and has been taken down but I managed to catch it just before and it's epic! I would even say it's the video of the year!

Love psychotic Taylor!
