Can't get either working at mo but good news is I've worked out how to use unblock while connected to Ethernet cable.

I only need to work out if I can put WWE Network on this and get 4od and demand5 on it and I'm sorted. Thank God I had help from this site. Would have been stuck. Thanks guys

I have set up mine using wi-fi, don't want to risk using the ethernet in case I lose what I have done so far. Any tips?

Got mine set up yesterday with all the US apps I needed in 1 go, as it was a pain to get sorted at first, but got it sorted in the end.

Mine was probably easier, as I have DNS in my router so didn't need to do the manual steps that are needed.

I would imagine if using the wired connection, that you may have to do the same with that connection for setting up DNS as you do with the wifi connection. Especially if you can't change the DNS on your router.
I suspect that the AFTV uses separate network settings for each connection, so if you set up the DNS on the wifi connection, they would also need to be set up on the wired as well.

I just plugged the wire in and clicked on about to get my ip address. Then added all the settings I needed. The reason it wasn't working before was because I was adding my ip address that was being given when I was using wifi.

What are the best free US apps to get for this device?

ok guys need some help here, got all my US content on the fire TV, and left if set to that region, everything worked fine, all apps my prime sub etc. recently noticed my prime TV content wasn't showing, so went to change the region back to UK, only to find it wouldn't let me, saying all my digital content was registered to .com, am assuming there must have been an update to the fire TV, that blocked my prime content and possibly left me stuck in US region, unless the blindingly obvious is staring me in the face ( which it probably is ) I can't seem to change it back, device registered to UK, digital content to US, just bought my wife a Kindle fire HDX and can't transfer her books over from her old device for the above reason, HELP!

You need to go to amazon.com and look in your digital content settings and set it back to your uk address.

Log onto amazon go yo your account, from the drop down menu select your apps and devices , click on 1click settings you'll then see a list of addresses you have set up, set the address you require content for as your default address so in your case for your instant video you'd select your uk address.
Then go to manage content and devices from the your account dropdown menu, click on settings and under country settings just change it to uk.

Lamzo10, have a look at the guide here, perhaps it helps.

One thing that rang an alarm bell was your mention of the Kindle. Check the Kindle status on the Amazon website (Try Amazon.co.uk first, logged in with your account).

Does it mention, when you are at the Amazon.co.uk side, that your digital account is still registered at Amazon.com? If so, follow the link to change this to the UK. This is done separately from the other bits mentioned previously.

ovbg your a star it was indeed the kindle that was at fault, because I set it up when registered to .com. it wouldn't allow me to switch back to .co.uk on the PC, I had to change the settings on the kindle, which is rather bizarre because it was the same process just through the kindle, anyway all back as it should be now, other than my fire TV which still hasn't picked up my prime membership, it did say it could take up to half an hour to sync, but if not ill just reset it, thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

It might have nothing to do with your problem as such but everything was screwed up with the Amazon Fire TV streaming last night, from around 9:30pm. Nearly all titles were not available in the UK. This was fixed sometime overnight.

Is it correct that all dvd movies you've ever purchased from Amazon are in the cloud waiting for you to watch whenever you want (a la Itunes if you buy a movie from them) on this device ?

No only digital movie purchases.

Yep only digital movies, you may be thinking of music, if you buy a cd from amazon alot come with autorip which gives you a MP3 which pops up on the Fire TV.

Would be nice if we could access the amazon digital store for films and music straight from the Fire TV.

I'm lucky enough to have friends in USA who gave me a login for their FIOS and Xfinity online tv services.
