You'd think if they could do it for songs they could do it for books and movies wouldn't you

I said on another thread. How long will it be until Amazon offer a free digital copy with every bluray, much like Sky are doing with DVDS, would be better than flixter, which I can't get to work on Fire TV

I've fired off a few emails to various boroadcasters asking about their apps coming to firetv so far only ABC (usa service) have got back to me this is their response.
" Thank you for contracting WATCH ABC Customer Care. I understand you are interested in accessing the WATCH apps from your Amazon Fire TV.

We are always looking to add new platforms and devices to our services. It is possible that the device will become supported at a later date. However, I currently do not have any information on this device.

Should you have any additional questions or concerns, you may reply to this message.

Have a wonderful day!

does the above solution still work without issue? i have a unblockus account but don't want to spend out on a fire tv if i have to faff about with sideloading apps. all i want is to change a dns setting on the fire tv (just like my currrent wdtv live player) and be ready to go

I have a login from a friend in USA who has a subscription to a provider, unless you know someone in usa willing to give you a login for something like dishnetwork then you won't be able to get HBOGO.

@ Stuart P yes Un block works fine with Fire TV, it's a PITA to set up, took me 2 attempts, but no problems since. Had a slight moment last week, when un plugging xmas tree and unplugged my router instead. Fire TV got confused for a bit, but quickly sorted it, had to update unblock etc.

Something I have noticed with my Apple TV at least twice a week I was always needing to update my ISP on un block, but with Fire TV not once, except with above problem.

Response from itv,

"Thank you for your enquiry regarding the ITV Player.

ITV are always looking at a variety of options for making ITV programming and associated content available to viewers via various platforms.

For the moment the ITV Player is not available for the Amazon FireTV box. The ITV development team continuously reviews the availability of the player service on different platforms with the aim of delivering the application to the widest user audience. We can only offer full support on those platforms for which the app has been fully tested.

Your interest in the application has been noted and details will be provided to the development team as part of our weekly platform review process.

I hope this has answered your query.

Do not hesitate to come back to me should you need further assistance.

Did I resolve your enquiry? Please take a few moments to rate my response and click on the link below.

Kind Regards

Just got mine and even though the interface is a million times faster than the Wii U amazon video app, the video playback isn't half as good... Still ok but it's more jerky and the contrast is not as good.

I guess they will improve this on a later model. The Fire TV is only at the beginning of it's journey, after all.

Weird, I've found the playback to be excellent, on par with Apple TV, and Amazons content loads straight away, due to being partially downloaded before hand. The only thing I've noticed is on Netflix it can take a few seconds to actually go into HD.

Is there any other way to put this thing to sleep without having to go all the way to settings each time?

Mine stays on without doing this.

From the little time I've used mine, playback has been excellent. Still not used it that much tbh, as it sits next to the Apple TV, and loads of other devices which pretty much do the same thing.

As more apps become available for it I'll probably use it a bit more.

Same here. Perfect playback via the Fire TV. Perhaps you have to make a setting adjustment on your TV (are you using the same HDMI port?) Not all HDMI ports are the same. For instance, on a Samsung Smart TV, HDMI 1 is better suited to STBs like gaming consoles, PCs and the like.

Look here for more details:

@ cookie, it should power down and go to sleep after 30mins, ie the light goes out on the front.

Mine did this for a while, but unplugging it and then plugging it back in seems to have solved it.

I'm using it with a Samsung TV, which sees it as an 'anynet' device.
Perhaps some disconnection problem caused the Fire TV to stay on??

Hi
Am trying to change dns on fire tv using unblock us. Am really only interested in changing netflix regions. However each time I change dns in settings I lose my network connection ando hence all my apps. Am at a loss. Thanks in advance

Have you confirmed your ip on the web page ?
Veraamo
24-12-2014
Sorry....web page? Where is that exactly?
I go through the different steps to manually configure network ip, gateway etc and leave everything as it is until I get to dns step.
On the ip page the ip address and 'next' button is faded out so I have to make a note of the former, input it and move on to next step. Each time the details are faded out so I have to input them as they are until the Dns page when I use unblockus dns.
I am using a wired Ethernet connection.
Sorry but I'm obviously missing something fairly basic.

you set the ip as you want it for example if your router ip says 192.168.1.1 you can set your fire tv to 192.168.1.2.
The gateway must be the same as your router so if your router is 192.168.2.1 your firetv gateway must be exactly the same.
Your firetv prefix must be 24.
Hope this helps and hope i've explained it correctly as half drunk lol.
