The bookmaker is now getting very bored with no Strictly books to be made. Come on, hurry up & at least announce who the runners & riders are so a book can be formed!

The bookmakers are starting to stir! The runners and riders have been announced. Virtual betting on the first elimination will be available after Saturdays launch show. There will also be weekly books run on the spoiler guess times. Early prices suggest that Peter Andre will be around 3/1 fav. to win outright. I will not be quoting outright prices until around October when the show starts properly. Who do you fancy to win this year? No bets at the moment please, until the prices are quoted. Good luck everyone!

A tenner on Kellie to be first out at 7/1 if you please Mr Bookie. Do I have credit left from last year?

I know it is just a bit of fun but, as a professional sports trader, I have to say that those prices are terrible; even for a virtual book.

Very good prices from the layer's perspective, of course. I make it an overround of about 143%; the sort of edge a bookmaker enjoys in the big handicaps. If I could create those regularly I would be retiring in the not too distant future.

At these odds, I can't even venture a virtual bet!

Have fun with this competition, folks.

Just by the by, in the real betting world Jeremy Vine is available at 3/1 or better to be the first eliminee.

Thank you for your input. As you know, this is just for fun only, so no one is being ripped off by the overround book. As no real money changes hands, no one loses anything unlike at the real bookies! Anyone else for a free fun bet?

All I can say to that is the virtual bookie likes to fill his virtual bag! Even at those prices, I bet the punters will still end up screwing the bookie. They usually do!

And why not?

On a more serious note, I have stayed away from betting on Strictly since series 6. I had a great result with Darren Gough in series 3 but was burned when the BBC changed the rules in series 6 to allow Tom Chambers to win. That was it for me, I am not going to bet in a market where that can happen. There are plenty other markets for me to get my teeth into.

The only actual bet I would recommend is to lay the favourite in Strictly at the onset of the series. This is because his or her position at the head of the market is due to personality, perceived potential and popularity. Those can change and many things will happen throughout the series. Even if the favourite does go all the way, he or she will no doubt have at least one under-par week which would allow the layer to get out of the bet; not necessarily avoiding a loss but at least cutting this.

Enjoy the fun betting, folks and best of British to all who participate.
