Three in USA - Network Registration Issues
Hi,
I wonder if anyone could give me some advice. Recently arrived in USA and have a Three (UK) contract that i've been using for a few months. However over here my sim card won't connect to the network. I've tried friends sim cards that are all on Three in my phone and these connect no problem but I constantly get the 'cannot register on the network at this moment' type message. Little bit frustrating as Three are telling me to call them when as far as they know I am unable to. Just wondered if there is anything anyone could suggest? I've contacted Three via email and awaiting a response. |

Did you check international roaming was active on your account before you left the UK?
It's not always there automatically and can depend on credit scoring etc. Sometimes it can be added only after several months of being connected and needs to be requested. Just a thought. |

My3 will tell you if roaming is activated. Have you ever used your SIM abroad before?

Have you tried a manual network selection?

Is your phone compatible with US network frequencies?

I was in the USA last year travelling from L.A. to Ausitn in Texas by road, had terrible trouble connecting in many places, spoke to someone I knew who has lived there for a number of years, said that in some places trying to connect even local (usa) phines can be a nightmare ! seems we don't know how lucky we are in the UK and Europe ! some calls I made I ended up using a pay-phone !

This might help, when I was in Spain I payed for the £5 data thing and had trouble making calls and sending text, phoned 3 and the woman said if it's an iPhone and on ios 8 to keep data roaming on but turn of EU roaming as three class it as the home network...Might be different in the USA but I hope this helps

I have tried a friend's 3 sim card and this connects fine so its not a problem with my phone being able to connect to the right frequency.
And I have tried manual network selection but get the same issue even though it can detect the network. Update: I just got an email from Three saying "we tried to call you but were unable to reach you" despite me saying I couldn't connect to the phone network. Excellent custoemr service as always. |

Can you log in to my3? Does it say roaming is on or off?

Well if you have friends there on Three, use their phone to call CS for free?
