Only one tie. Good.

I wonder if it will help us avoid any bottom two surprises.

Good evening folks, very enjoyable show tonight, the front runners are very closely matched but I think tonight it should be between Scott and Alison. Judy turned up this week.

Except I don't believe that they do. I hear lots of conspiracy theories on these boards all the time. All they generally reflect is the prejudices of the forum members i.e. they always think that the person they like has been undermarked and everyone else overmarked.

In the main, the judges get the leaderboard about right.

If we're sharing, could I please have 10.37?
I also have graze snacks: rocky road granola topper is open but I could also bring out the jam doughnut thing (not a jam doughnut), chai latte pot pourri or salt and vinegar nuts.

What's the key difference between marking and manipulating?

The thing is Scott cant even pretend to act sexy or that he is in love with his partner, think Robin who could do all that despite being gay, he sold you a believable story this would be a too big an ask for Scott.

OK - now you've given me a VERY unwanted image of Scott doing a Rhumba...Pass the brain bleach

DEALING WITH TIES
Sunetra & Steve are tied at 6=, so they receive 7 points each from the Judges. Would it be fairer if they received 6.5 points each. Probably not important this week but this system may make it fairer if there were more ties at the bottom of the Judges leader board.

I think there is a lot of over- and under- marking, regardless of forum "prejudices". But that doesn't mean the judges are giving marks they think are over or under -- or are doing it in order to "manipulate" the leaderboard. I think that would be a very serious accusation to make, especially since people are spending money on phone votes.

I feel the big mistake they make with ties is in the place after the tie ie

if there is a tie for say 3rd placr then it should be

1
2
3=
5 and so on

by doing that the marks below run right and it is what happens in dance comps

The problem with doing it that way when there are less couples is that the bottom can never be saved from the dance off, even with every public vote. They used to do it that way but changed it.

I think they should receive 7, and the next person down should receive 5 rather than 6 (ie, like it used to be). But I wouldn't especially mind a system that gave them 6.5. What's very wrong, imo, is for the gap to be "closed up" like it is now. I think the BBC was panicked into changing the system because of the "Tom Chambers problem" and didn't think it through.

It takes quite unusual circumstances for the problem to appear, and there are other ways to prevent it.

The good ones are on a journey too, one that I happen to find more interesting.

However, I understand why people think differently.

It isn't an accusation I was making - it was an accusation I was refuting.

In general, I think that the judges get the leaderboard about right with scores that are roughly right relative to each other rather than absolutely. I don't always agree with the leaderboard positions (I don't tonight) and I would prefer Len, Bruno and Darcey to use a wider range of scores but I don;t think that the manipulate the leaderboard.

We all know who SHOULD go - but it is very likely someone good could go tonight.

If Judy or Scott escape the DDO, then it could be between any of the ones above.
Allison was the poorest dancer tonight IMHO, but we could get Thom v Steve or even Jake v Mark depending on the voting patterns.

Prepare for a shock methinks

I think the BBC probably did give this serious consideration in view of the issues it raised.

The offered refunds to voters at the time.

Subsequently they were "let off" by Ofcom....
