Focaccia

Just bought some focaccia bread with cheese and red onion from Morrissons. 80p for a piece about half the size of 15." laptop.
Couldn't resist tasting it. Now i've eaten half of it already.
I've never had it before.
Anyone else like it or any other suggestions for Italian style bread?

Bought some and served half & then ate the rest, it was lush. I usually make my own but we'd come back from holiday and I was too tired to cook. I love focaccia with garlic & rosemary too. Yum

I was going to add in my opening post when I asked for suggestions, "not including making it yourself."
But I thought, no..

I usually buy a fresh bread roll every day for breakfast ........my local supermarket sells about a dozen different varieties and the Italian one is Ciabatta..........it's very nice !

On the subject of making your own...

Being a superior human being to most of you people on here, I always make my own.

But just in case anyone else is interested in crawling out of the primordial soup and making their own Italian-style breads too... Lidl did an "Italian week" last week, with plenty of items still available on the shelves. They do 100g sachets of dried tomatoes (which I much prefer to the jars of dried tomatoes soaking in vegetable oil) for £1.79 and 700g jars of green olives for £1.59.

I use these in focaccia breads and they're really lovely. Equivalent products in Tesco and Asda cost a hell of a lot more. The tomatoes are easy but unfortunately the olives have pips and because they're quite good, they can be a hassle to remove.

But focaccia with chunks of olive and sun dried tomatoes is absolutely delicious, especially with a good lasagne — home made from scratch, naturally. I'm reliably informed by those in-the-know that you can now buy lasagnes pre-manufactured by Super Markets, but I find the idea rather gauche...

If you want to meet half way then Tesco sell fresh focaccia dough (and pizza dough).

So it takes out the step of making the dough but are free to add your own toppings then bake it yourself.

I used to buy it but now I make my own, it's just so much better than shop ones - sorry

It is one of easiest breads to make imo. I gently heat up garlic, thyme, rosemary in some EVOO then add it to the dough mix. Makes for a very nice flavour.

Sainsbury's bakery does a really lovely rosemary foccacia.

Yes, that can 'disappear' in seconds in my house...
