I'd hazard a guess that Liam himself may have decided to split the group and the others agreed.
I'm sure I read they'd sacked their manager a few months ago and replaced him with Liam's new girlfriend. He may be looking at going solo with a backing band similar to how Noel has gone.

I can't see Noel being keen on reforming Oasis. They may be on speaking terms but that's different to being in a band and spending months both in the studio and on the road together. Their relationship seems to be more fractious when they spend long periods of time together.

There has been several big bust ups over the years between the two but Noel always decided to come back and carry on. The last one was just the final straw for Noel and he probably realised he just didn't need the hassle any more. I'm guessing he's enjoying being in a band environment with the HFB's but without having to deal with Liam being a massive nobber most of the time.

Noel's also got 2 good mates in Paul Weller and Johnny Marr that have both gone on to success despite vehemently refusing to reunite their successful bands (The Jam & The Smiths).

Liam is sort of lost without Noel, musically. Unfortunately, Noel hasn't done too much of note since the mid-nineties himself. Their best songs come from Definitely Maybe and What's the Story (Morning Glory)?, none of their other albums come close.
They've both drifted since then on the goodwill many afforded them.

Even if Oasis reformed now, I can't see where Liam's place would be, since Noel now has the better voice - Liam has completely wrecked his.”

I don't think he manipulated him as much as let his brother join the band so their mother wouldn't have to worry about Liam going out causing trouble, then they found his accent in his singing worked with their sound more than Noel's voice which is higher and more melodious. So, they worked together until the face of the band stopped respecting the brains behind the operation... then they kept working because they were still making money even though Noel's quality of work diminished in the process because he wasn't enjoying it anymore... then Liam decided to try sell Pretty Green clothing at their gigs rather than just the standard band merchandise so he'd get all of the PG sales profits and some of the Oasis merch profits and Noel pulled him up on it when he saw the tour program for their American tour... then Liam smashed one of Noel's favourite guitars and big brother decided he was tired of babysitting his little brother, at that point a grown man and a father.

Can't blame him, Liam's a big kid who wore out his welcome and wouldn't have got anywhere if his brother hadn't wanted to play rock music because he was too insecure to play melodic folk stuff and sound like a twee troubadour at a time when grunge and alternative music was the trend.

He doesnt mention speaking to Liam at all. He said he was hanging out with Beady Eye but that could have been the other members.

I can not say I am surprised. A band needs a good songwriter and I am sorry but Liam Gallagher does not have that pedigree. I played in bands when I was younger and wrote a few songs but I am not and never was a songwriter. I played with people who were but I was not. Noel Gallagher, and I have no vested interest here as I was never an Oasis fan, is a songwriter and he does have the quality that you need to write successful songs.

Best

There's another quote (not in that Guardian article) from an article in the current issue of Q where Noel says of Liam: "We're on good terms, as good as we can be."

Maybe sneak a look at Q in Smiths to confirm that.

Liam would up for a reunion for sure but doubt Noel would forgive him for smashing up his guitar on that infamous night. I cannot honestly seeing them getting back together, it's very different when sibling rivalry is involved.

Liam is a complete nightmare to work with. The fact Noel "left Oasis" says it all.......it's his band essentially, but you could never tell Liam that.

Well it was Liam's band first. Noel took it over, wrote nearly all the songs and hired better musicians to play them.

Liam's voice is terrible now anyway, sounds like a worn out lawnmower motor. I am sure most of Beady Eye will start sniffing around Noel for opportunities now. Noel only needed Liam until he developed his own stage presence and confidence in his abilities, Liam had been surplus to requirements for years even before they split.”

I would imagine its a separate company or something.

Yes but Rain were shite and wouldn't have done anything without Noels songs.

You realise that Liam was a member of Beadie Eye right? Therefore if he says that he's been hanging out with Beady Eye, Liam would be part of that.

I don't think that it's too difficult to understand.

Noel said " "I was with some of Beady Eye the other night..."

He wouldn't be drawn on whether his brother was there.

Yes, but it is now the only business Liam is likely to be in and now he can't flog it at Beady Eye gigs or promote it on world tours to increase brand awareness. Not a lot of musician's clothing lines last long once they fade from the public eye.
