best and worst affair and cheating storylines
So over the years of the soaps what have been your favourite and least favourite affair and cheating storylines.
I really enjoyed the Riley/Mercedes/Carl one of my favourite storylines of that year all culminating in the kidnap by Silas and who's the daddy. Which then lead to the great storyline of Mercedes vs Mitzee. This storyline gave some amazing episodes and performances. Recently in coronation Street I hated the tedious and boring Peter and Tina. It was the same thing for months and months and it had no development for ages. Just them sleeping together, Peter being stressed and Tina whining about Peter and constantly asking him to run away with her this all led to another tedious storyline who Killed Tina? Other recent ones I have hated Frankie and Ziggy Sinead and Tony Gary and Alya Ste sleeping with everyone Sinead sleeping with everyone |

The worst affair on any soap in my opinion was the stomach churning Molvin storyline on Coronation Street from 2009. Peter and Tina was bad but its trounced in terms of implausabilty and awkwardness by that abomination of a story. How that storyline was suggested never mind carried out defies logic and sense.

EastEnders: Phil & Sharon - one of the most defining storyline's of the 90's. Involved some of the best characters EastEnders have ever created. Max & Stacey - A dynamic pairing. Explosive reveal and a very good aftermath. Put the Brannings on the map. Dan & Bianca - Brilliant acting from all involved. How the affair started up was also natural. Lindsey Coulson especially was outstanding. |

The worst Peter and Tina. It just came from no where. The best Sharon gate and Max and Stacey. Max and Lucy was pretty bad as it also came from no where, but as Max is such a sleaze you could sort of believe it. Bianca and Dan was a great affair. It tore mother and daughter apart, so was gripping stuff. Frank and Pat was just brilliant! The reveal was just hilarious!

Karl Kennedy's affairs with Sarah Beaumont and Izzy Hoyland in neighbours were two of the shows best storylines. Anything involving Karl and Susan is gold and these storylines really gave them a chance to shine.
I agree with the others that Kevin and Molly and Peter and Tina are definitely the two worst. |

- Karl and Izzy in Neighbours. Susan delivered some heartbreaking scenes. Worst - Molvin - Maurel - Moira and James because it basically crapped on everything John and Moira ever had - Justin and Becca in Hollyoaks. Sorry, I hated it. |

I back up Karl's 2 affairs in Neighbours. So good
Frank/Pegg/Pat & Sharongate were immense, Max/Stacey was sleazy but the reveal was classic The worst - Kat/Derek by far |

Izzy and Karl but I would say it was actually the Izzy & Susan scenes that made that storyline so good. I can still feel the pain of Susan's heartbreak watching those scenes. Jackie is a very underrated actress and although I would always want her in Neighbours and as Susan and with Karl, I would love to see her on a British soap somewhere.
Cain and Moira - the chemistry offffffffffffffft!!! Pat and Frank - same as above, a lovely story about first love and the one that away. |

Actually I think the worst ever affair has got to be Kevin and Molly. Molly's over the top flirting and eye fluttering made me feel quite sick. Not to mention their actual kissing scenes. I had to change the channel at that point! Lol

Kat and Derek. End of thread, or it should be. Absolutely preposterous.

Not sure about the best, probably Phil and Sharon, since it was basically the defining story for the Mitchell brothers and set the tone for the 20 years since. Cindy's affairs with the Wicks brothers were great stories too.
The bad ones are plentiful: Peter/Tina (Corrie) Tyrone/Fiz (Corrie) Kevin/Mol-eh (Corrie) Paddy/Viv (Emmerdale - what were the writers smoking that week?) Cain/Angie (Emmerdale - as above) Moron/Laurel (Emmerdale) Derek/Kat (EE) Max/Tanya (EE) Phil/Dawn (EE) Tony/Sinead (HO) |

I loved David and Cindy in EE
I didn't like EE's Kat and Derek (although it wasn't revealed until after the fact, IIRC), or Corrie's Molly and Kevin or Tina and Peter. |

Mercedes/Carl/Riley Mercedes/Riley/Mitzeee I agree OP, two brilliant SL's leading form one to another. Gave Mercy a brand new edge too after being kidnapped bu Silas to go onto stabbed herself and fake kidnapped Bobby. Love how Silias made her worse then better. Worst - Rhys/Cindy Lyndsey/Freddie |
