I've seen Addicted to You as a Tango before and it's worked fine, the trouble was Alison couldn't dance to it, she's two flat-footed and slow on her feet in Ballroom. Even the insufferable James Jordan said it was good Tango music, but she needs to pick up her feet A LOT. She's one of the worst in my view.

The music choices are generally pretty c**p for most of the celebrities most weeks. I'm Still Standing isn't particularly good for the quickstep, Live & Let Die isn't particularly good for the pasha doble. Alison is no more hampered by the music choices than everyone else is at some point.

However, other celebrities faced with the tango and danced to the same music would have performed better than Alison. She just isn't as good as a lot of the others.

I didn't know what dance she was supposed to be doing tonight, as I missed the announcement.
She really is terrible. Stop the favouritism, its getting boring.

I think the people making fattist remarks should look at their own lives before slagging others off. Alison is good and no, I'm not overweight I'm just sick of all the jibes about her.

However PC they are being - the facts are there. Anyone carrying that amount of weight is risking damage to their heart and their joints. This is not "weightist" - it is a simple fact. And I am speaking from having lost several stone over the last few years and improved my general health immeasurably - including risks of heart problems and diabetes.”

I'm not being funny, but Alison is overweight whether she appears on Strictly or not, so overly concern for her weight because of it, is rather a moot point. It is true, that her shape affects her agility esp around the mid-rift area and means she cannot perform all dances as well as she would like to, or indeed has the potential to. However she is enjoying her self, Strictly is an entertainments show and a dancing competition for amateurs of all levels. There have been and currently are much more slimmer individuals on the show who cannot dance for toffee regardless....

I can honestly say I have never seen a tango like it

Don't think it was the music that was the problem.

I think Alison is dreadful . Not bothered what size she is , but it is a dance show and her feet never leave the floor

While that is perfectly true, it can also be said of most of the other dancers as well, so, music wise, she was no more at a disadvantage than anyone else.

Alison's problem is her feet. I know how she insists she is flat-footed, but the insides of dance shoes can be built up very easily (takes minutes) to help with that problem. I have students who are flat footed, but with the correct dance shoes they soon realise it is not a problem.

Then she may actually be able to dance, because although she is moving her top half a lot, all she is doing at the moment, is walking through her routines

I agree. All she was able to do was waddle around. Her partner even had to move her arms into each position.
How on earth was she not bottom of the board?

It would be a fitting dance to go out on. The fat personality stereotype bubbles have gone flat, she has proved a chubber can go a few rounds and now needs to duck out the ring before they carry her out on a stretcher

I am certainly not fattist, I voted for Lisa Riley several times, but Alison just gets worse every week.

Time for her to go!

Alison had said she was wearing low heels but I thought she was actually in flat shoes last night which is never a good look for the lady!
Flat feet, my eye! She can't wear heels because she is simply morbidly obese and too heavy to wear heels.
Why doesn't everyone stop pussyfooting around her weight?
She is HUGE and when she met Lisa Riley on ITT she made Lisa look almost slim!!

It wasn't great and possibly had a mark or two too many, but she was in the right position on the leaderboard ie just in front of Scott and Judy

Well, pleasingly compact (as the saloon said to the hatchback)

I think Caroline and Pasha had by far the worst music actually and yet they danced a really good Paso.

By worst music, I mean that it did not appear to have any Paso rhythm to it at all (phrasing of eight beats) and so I don't know how Caroline managed to dance some decent Paso steps.

I want going to say this. Alison Hammond is even bigger than Lisa. I like Alison whereas Lisa annoyed me. But she will always look flat footed and there are limited costumes Alison can wear. She needs to lose weight for the sake of her health.

If you just focus on the dress it looks kinda like Aljaz is dancing with a Pac-Man ghost.

Agreed. She is rubbish but a better dancer than Scott and Judy.

I thought at the outset that she would be much better than she has turned out to be.

There are quite a few obese Salsa dancers who are pretty good. Though any dance in close embrace looks odd if the bloke can't get his arms round the follower.

Sorry - but good at what? She is too big to dance properly. That's the bottom line. There is rhythmn there and a get up and go attitude but not much else. Comments are nothing to do with fat or thin - just a physical comment that her body isn't in good shape to cope with the rigours of SCD.

Allison strikes me as someone who would be the first person to get up and dance at a wedding. I like that attitude.

However, with the lack of improvement from the hip down, her dances are coming over as a bit dull and very samey. To keep it fair though, if someone like Jake hasn't got his snake hips and knee lifts going on, he looks decidedly average.

Here is a fat guy dancing. Pretty good. So much better than the skinny Dad Dancers at the back.

Alison and Lisa have no excuse for relying on the FUN FUN FUN.

When she came on the dance floor my husband said she didn't seem to have lost any weight at all. although the awful dress didn't do her any favours.. She isn't really helping herself either wearing boots to train in and then dancing in what appeared to me to low, wedge heels.

I actually think that Alison does pretty well for someone of her size (and there is no denying that she is a big girl, that's a fact) - she seems to have plenty of energy, so she must be reasonably fit.

I don't think it's at all "fattist" to point out that if you are a large person in terms of carrying round excess non-muscle weight, there will be some things that you just can't do, and being light as a fairy is probably one of them. However, Alison's obviously having great fun, she's entertaining to watch, and she will inevitably be voted off in the next couple of weeks, so I don't really see what the problem is. You might just as well say they shouldn't have old people on there if it's a question of what someone is physically able to do.
