That they record the results show on Saturday but, up to press, none has ever leaked the result?

Don't you read the spoiler thread on here every Saturday night or is this a trick question?

No, Deborah Meaden (spelling?) once tweeted "Thanks for keeping me in" or some such message on Saturday night. She did take it down but not before it had been re-tweeted.

One night at Wembly, we got the result here before the audience thanks to a spoiler from within the crew, but she got such abuse from a few ignoramouses that she never sent us another message.

They and the vote count are closely guarded secrets. The latter particularly as (a) they don't want the celebs to know how few some received. (bad for morale).
(b) because they don't want the public to know how relatively few people vote, particularly in the early weeks, compared with the ratings.
"The voting window" is small, as they have to get on with recording the second part of the show.

I don't think I've ever seen it leaked in the press but it's on here on Saturday night (thanks to all moles & their forum friends) & usually on Twitter if you search correctly.

I think the OP meant the BBC, not someone in the audience or a, "rogue employee."

I'm presuming this is referring to being leaked in the media (which would be too risky for... most newspapers to do) rather than on here, which happens regularly every Saturday night between October and December.

I don't think they papers want to leak it. There will be millions that watch the show on Sunday who don't know the result and don't want to find out reading the papers over breakfast.
No one who i know watches strictly purposely seeks out the result and i don't tell them either

I understood the OP meant had it been leaked by any of the competitors, which is why I mentioned Deborah's tweet.

No I meant by anyone.

I'm not a regular here and it was just something my daughter said to me while we were watching the show tonight.

It seemed odd so I thought I'd ask. I suppose I could have searched for a spoilers thread but Strictly fans seems nice and I was feeling lazy so I thought noone would mind if I just asked.

No problem.
Just keep your eye on the spoiler thread

Wasn't there a link here last year to a website with the result that seemed to be connected with the media?

The Andrew Marr Sunday programme once leaked the result. But this was a few years ago now.

The media have an agreement not to publish it otherwise they wont get press interviews and access.

Strictly must be unique in being able to stand a 24 hour delay without it diminishing the popular impact of a results show.

I suspect, however, that like me, the audience would still watch if the result was texted to every mobile phone in Britain.

It's weird really. I really enjoy finding out the result on here on Saturday night, and then watching the Sunday show knowing the result. I find it more exciting waiting for the result to come in in DS then the drawn out process on Sunday.

My thoughts exactly! And I am never free on Sunday nights, so always have to watch in playback.

lundavra - the website you refer to gets it from the spoiler thread - it is never up on there before here!

k9fan - Dave Thorpe gets the result from the spoiler thread as well (he admitted it last year)!!!

Apparently several of the celebrities, including Jake Wood, Allison Hammond and Pixie Lott have tweeted thanks to their fans for keeping them in on a Saturday night and have been reprimanded by the BBC.
Personally I think the pretence that the Sunday night show is live is farcical. Tess, Claudia and D'arcy's change of dresses and coiffure and carefully saying "last night" when we all know it's 9pm on Saturday fools no one.

It's like telling a five year old that his new bike has come down the chimney, but at least there is some point to making Christmas magical for small children.

I just don't get why the BBC can't treat it's viewers like adults.
