I think it was either last week or the week before that there were one or two comments left on the Sunday morning in a DM Strictly article referring to who had gone out. Quite a few disgruntled comments against them doing that too.

They do treat their audience as adults.. They recognise that a good part of their audience prefers to wait for the results show. This is proved by the ratings. The posters on this forum are not the only ones who know that the results show is filmed after the main show. I started to read the spoiler thread a couple of series ago and I stopped half way through the season because I found that it was spoiling my enjoyment of the results show.

I'm an adult, not a spoiled child. It doesn't cause me any harm to wait for a day. . Yes, it's a fiction, but it's a fiction that is not harming anyone..

This is true. The number of people viewing the spoilers online is minor compared to the viewing figures, although was still large enough to crash my website for 10 mins last night

However I do suspect a number of the viewers on a Sunday don't realise the results are pre recorded on a Saturday. I've had conversations with people on twitter who haven't realised until I told them anyway

I'm not being sarcastic, but I don't understand why you would tell people something like this, if they didn't know, why did you feel you had an obligation to tell them? Like I said, the BBC is not causing anyone any harm. When I watch Children in Need for instance I know that a lot of the content is pre-recorded. It doesn't make any difference to me and I don't seek out the information about what is live and what is not. If a viewer is enjoying something and that something is simply a light entertainment program, why do something that might spoil that person's enjoyment. This is not sarcasm either, would it pain you not to tell them?

If it doesn't matter, why would knowing it is pre recorded make any difference to their enjoyment of it.

Why DO they show the results show the next day anyway. I'm sure that, back in the day, they had a second show on Saturday night. why did they change it.
(Then again if they went back to it I'd really miss the Spoiler page )

slogga they changed it because it meant the results were on so late at night and a lot of the audience would have gone to bed - I'm thinking of the children who watch.

I don't think this is true, I've been on the strictly press list for a while and I've never been told not to publish it (other than when the BBC send it on a Sunday, cos then it's embargoed) and we've never been threatened with that.za

I may be wrong but I am 'fairly' sure that when Austin went, it was openly discussed on this forum on the Sunday and days following and not just on the spoiler page, because of the shock. Not a 'leak' as such, but I think that's the only time I have seen a name out so to speak that wasn't in the spoiler thread or spoiler tagged.

Exactly. It's the pretence that it's live on Sunday that irritates me.

Same here, different outfits, talk as if it's actually Sunday evening etc!!

I've always wondered; do the celebs/pros have to go into hiding on a Sunday evening? Is it ok to be seen out and about when the results show is being aired?

Daily Mail inadvertently revealed the result today - someone commenting on an article about last nights show said that Thom went !

Do you mean that, given the choice, viewers/voters would choose to wait 24 hours for the results show (with many of them knowing the show had been recorded the night before) in preference to waiting two hours? Is there any evidence for that? The ratings might be even better if the results show were shown live, soon after the vote is over...

I'm not aware of any pretence that the show is live - they are recording a show to go out on Sunday referring to events that happen on Saturday - why wouldn't they refer to "last night"?

I always check the spoiler thread, but still watch the results show on Sunday. I think the reason that the results show moved to Sunday was to ease the pressure on Saturday night schedules as well as boosting the Sunday evening ratings.

I was wondering if the OP meant the percentage public votes at each stage or after the comp has finished?

If you are asked a direct question of course not, but if nobody has asked you...do you tell them anyway?

Perhaps the majority would prefer the results show on Saturday nigh, perhaps the majority doesn't. I don't presume to speak for them. The viewers can make up their own minds and as the BBC is not being swamped with outrage over a 24 delay I think it's safe to say the vast majority of viewers are pretty happy with the status quo. But if you feel strongly about this perhaps you can start a petition to change the schedule.

But bear in mind the BBC has Casualty, Dr Who and the Lottery to get through on Saturday night. If Strictly was the only thing that was on, like ITV with the XFactor maybe it would change the schedule. As it is they have other strings to their bow.
