He doesn't do himself justice on the Saturday show, but he's much better on ITT.

OK do explain Claudia's humorous comment. I must be as dull as Simon. She obviously didn't get Simon's previous comment.

Maybe he understood it to mean

"You are black. Are you from Jamaica or Nigeria?"

and was flabbergasted.

Pretty obvious he meant "the wrong side of the tracks". She was too slow to get it.

Love Claud; Hate Tess with a passion!

Sack Tess with immediate effect and replace with Zoe!

Lol the suggestion that Claudia would be too slow to get anything Simon might come out with is ridiculous. She knew what he meant and she also knew how it could be played on. She has an inherent intelligent wit that is a pleasure to watch.

The most positive comment I can make about Tess, is that not once have we had to miss out a judge's comments, mainly as some old fool hasn't been wasting time trying to draw attention to himself with attempts at humour.
She's kept the show running to time.

So if she knew what Simon meant why did she ask and imply that she meant "you are black so not from here".

He was too taken aback. And clearly he doesn't do her type of silliness.

Why?

Is that relevant to how she is?

I've always liked Claudia as a presenter. She's probably my favourite female presenter now. (It used to be Victoria Coren but she's become just a bit too sarcy.) Claudia's warm, friendly style is a winner.

Her gaffe with the black guy made me gasp! It was a real Alf Garnett moment.
She clearly needs diversity training from Nigel Farage.

Wow, I'm flabergasted. Why on earth would he think she meant anything like that? It was such a simple innocent question of the type that she would have asked anyone who had made the remark he had just made. I assumed he was from London, turns out he was from Manchester, so it was a decent enough question to ask. Perhaps it's you who has a problem, seeing things that simply don't exist.

There was no gaffe! This is PC gone mad - why do you see offence where there was none. He said there was no dancing like that where he came from, so she asked where he came from. She would have said exactly the same to anyone who had said that. Why does it imply an 'Alf Garnett' moment. I think that says more about you than her?

I am equally amazed that someone has extrapolated from Why, where are you from?' 'You are black ... ' strike that. I'm not amazed. I am utterly apalled. I certainly never even contemplated that she meant that and I'm far from stupid.

Really?????

Really?????

Wow. Just wow.

Someone has got a serious chip on their shoulder and a serious problem. And it's not Claudia.

To use a good Lancastrian expression. Give over Henry.

Loving Claudia's hair. Looking like a sexy mop.
I never stopped to think where Simon came from. His accent is quite soft.
But then again, maybe people are right. Claudia might have been insinuating that he has ebola.

Interesting you read it as her missing the point. I thought she was being humorous and, much as I like him, it was Simon who didn't get it. He's also a bit off track if he thinks that dancing in fake tan and sequins is for posh people - the Strictly type stuff is decidedly working class. I don't think many of the pros are particularly posh. Darcy is the exception on the programme but of course she's ballet.
