I'm assuming those dissing particular contestants hold court in company and the audience absolutely hangs on every word of their sparking wit and repartee

I think Pixie has loads of personality for someone her age....
I think she is cute and sweet, amazed to read that some on here do not think like me

I think it's awful to say anybody is devoid of personality. Why can't people say what they mean using other words? It's especially insulting when it is said about a celeb off the dance floor when they are just being themselves and not performing. Nobody ever says that about the pros, the presenters, the judges, etc., so why is it okay to say it about the celebs?
![]() Having said that, I do agree with what you said about celebs personality. |

They all have (differing) personalities that we all take to differently, I tend to see it more that way rather then viewing any of them as devoid. The idea that any are devoid (like there is nothing there) seems silly to me. I don't find Thom the most engaging person to listen to in his vts and other tv interviews, but just because I'm not personally drawn to him that doesn't mean I'd say he is devoid of personality. He has a personality, it just isn't a type that holds my attention, but will someone else instead.

Pixie seems a sweet kid. But you need steely determination to get on in show-biz, so I reckon there is more to her than meets the eye.

BIB - oh I think they do; the pros, presenters & judges come in for a helluva lot of stick.
Having said that, I do agree with what you said about celebs personality. |

It's according to what people mean by "personality". Most people appear to consider that Alison has it in spades, but I wouldn't want to spend more than five minutes in her company.
I like Frankie, Sunetra and Jake, quieter and more interesting people. |

I really can't take to pixie at all. That constant grin and goody goody act don't do it for me.

I hate to say this because it sounds so rude, but I do suspect that the lack of personality this year is down to a lack of intelligence.
They just don't seem to be bright sparks. That goes for Frankie, Pixie, Thom, Simon and to a lesser degree, Jake. How can I put this? Their characters seem somewhat one dimensional with a firm focus on looking in the mirror and admiring themselves. Nothing more dull than that. |

Perhaps it's more the format that is used to interview the celebs and the silly VTs that reflect the agenda of the production team? Everything is dance-based: how well did that go ? How pleased are you to survive another week? What does Strictly mean to you? These type of questions tend to elicit stock responses that have all been heard before. On the other hand when someone like Vanessa Feltz who is articulate expresses her opinions, many people suggest that she should shut up lol.

To be honest, I think they've got a lot of hunky guys and nimble women in this year and guess what? They're not great at conversation. You can't have everything.
The great British public always vote out the people that I think are interesting. I'm not sure why people only realized Tim was good television once he had gone. But why does anyone vote for Scott? He's neither interesting, a hunky guy or nimble and has an inflated ego. I can understand voting for Judy because she comes over as likeable and intelligent. Allison I find too much and loud. Most of the others I have no feelings about but I'm sure others see something they like and vote for them. I wouldn't say any are devoid of personality - they just all have different ones, some of which I like and some I don't. |

Tim was pressing the National Lottery button last night. They had a clip of his Passo going on and he said he hadn't seen it before because he was doing it. He said "Isn't that marvellous?" then went on to say that the best bit was when Natalie fell back and he caught her without falling over. Shame he's gone - and I always thought he was good television, but many don't get that he's taking the micky out of himself and just think he's arrogant. Although he wasn't much good at dancing, he was entertaining.

I just wanted to add that I think viewers who don't watch ITT will get a totally different impression of each celeb, especially now that we see so little training footage during the live show. Millions more people will watch the live show than ITT, so it's no wonder certain people stand out more.

Abbie was an A grade student in school I believe. She wasn't self obsessed, she was alijaz obsessed and who can blame her.

Of course we connect better to different characters. It's natural. We all vibrate at different frequencies |

Maybe we need two scores, one for personality and one for dance skills. Then they could crown a "Best Personality" and "Best Dancer" at the end of the show. I personally pay more attention to dance skills than personality so I don't find it enoyable when poor dancers stay in the competition at the expense of better dancers.
Personality is a very subjective matter anyway. I don't consider "loud and brash" to be equal to "lots of personality". To me it's more of a mask to disguise the true personality. |

Personality is a very subjective matter anyway. I don't consider "loud and brash" to be equal to "lots of personality". To me it's more of a mask to disguise the true personality. But on the subject of 'devoidness of personality', EVERYONE has a personality, otherwise they would be dead. It's just what kind of personality they have and how it comes across on the medium of television in a one-minute or less interview after they've just tired themselves out on the dancefloor! Some personalities are attractive to some people; some aren't. Because we're each attracted to different traits in different people, mainly when we see something of ourselves in them (because we are all, to a greater or lesser degree, self-obsessed). Those people who have wildly differing personalities than ourselves or who we simply can't engage with for some reason (which is not the fault of the person themselves, but our own perceptions of them) we tend to label as having 'no personality' because we cannot adequately express our own opinion on why we can't take to them. Saying someone is devoid of personality is therefore a misnomer. We should instead be admitting that we simply cannot take to them, which, ultimately us not their problem, but our own. And I freely admit that I do feel this way about two or three people (not on SCD per se, but on the 'celebrity' scene)!
