I find it a lot with actors on a personal level they are shy but give them a character and they blossom. Judy Dench was painfully shy till she hit her sixties. I care more about whether they bring character to the dance and so far for me Jake has done that.

As many have said here, they all have personalities though they may be boring to us.
Vanilla personalities on the floor don't do it for me, but they may for many.
I dont really care much about their boring personalities off the stage, I care about their boring personalities on the stage. I want to be captivated by their performance not by who they are.

I remember a few years back in the second and last series of UK So you think you can dance, the finalist came across as very dull specially against the eventual winner, but boy oh boy, when he danced he was among the more mesmerising dancers I have seen. He came alive when he danced.

For instance, last year personality wise I loved Sophie. I thought she was intelligent, witty without being loud or obnoxious, but when it came to perform (except for the Charleston) i found her a mediocre performer besides her technical inabilities.
Jake, on the other hand, I dont find that exciting personality wise but on the floor I find him captivating even when he isn't technically that good.

In strictly, ultimately I think you have to have both, an engaging personality on and off the floor. Unless you are a very fit good looking young man with a good pro that does their job well.

There is surely more than one type of personality? Nothing wrong with some people being introverted and some being extroverted. There is no right or wrong way to be, and just because someone's personality doesn't appeal, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it.

I dont know how people can say Frankie and Pixie have no personality cause that is not true.

I was just thinking the same thing, everyone has a personality it might not always to be our taste. But they do just think that some people are more quite and reserved. I personally thought Thom as quite sweet and not at all how I first perceived him. Thought he would be full of himself, but he is not.

I don't think any of them are 'devoid' of personality. Nobody is. It's whether any of them are getting a fair chance to show their personality or not that I think is debatable. While I think it's mostly a very good series, we are feeling the lack of proper training footage with everyone and how predictable and empty the judging is. What are the stories this year? Will Alison be able to improve her footwork? Will Andy Murrey come to see Judy dance? Mark was in the b2 and next week danced well and cried. What else? Other than that, all of them are pretty much: 'Here is a member of my family and the dance I'm doing this week is particularly difficult' and the judging is either 'You came out and you gave it your best' or 'Very good.'

If I have strong opinions on anyone, it's because I already know their work - it's from outside the show itself. The show is giving me very little to get to know them.

With hindsight, I think Thom was just particularly unlucky with the editing. He'd have been perfect for the always popular storyline: sportsman, not a natural performer, nervous, learning, get the acting coach in and transformation. Instead we were built up from the launch show and early publicity to expect something amazing from his dancing and lots of romance from Thom and Iveta. I think they both did their best to present him as a polite learner and play down any romance from then on, but they had so little chance to do that because we see so little and what we see on ITT is so repetitive.

I'm sure they were popular, don't get me wrong, but I think Thom, Simon and Mark are appealing to the same voters and last night (unlucky again) Thom had the wrong dance for him on a night when Mark really shone. The week before Thom had a very good dance and Mark was in the b2 - he was just luckier who he was in the dance off with. But on the other hand, I think whoever survives the longest of that group will gather all that vote and probably go far.

Just surprised that we haven't had the inevitable Simon and Allison "have a chip on their shoulder" comments .

I think that suggestion is probably correct, especially with Simon and Mark.

I suppose people think that having a personality means acting like Alison I think people forget that celebrities are normal human beings who sometimes get shy and nervous. People whinged about Louis's lack of personality and he won, so

I've never understood this "personality" thing. I, really can't tell what a person's personality is by them doing a dance for a couple of minutes once a week. I tend to agree with previous posters who say we've all got personalities and we're all just different

This time she has the Lisa Riley vote working for her, a lack of comedy opposition, and we don't have live coverage beyond the 5 minutes a week we are shown. .

The idea of a big personality is a strange one. Firstly its applied bizarrely. We have had people on SCD regarded as unemotional and sexless who have won repeated polls among males for being attractive. Immensely popular people outside have been seen, or depicted, as lacking personality. .

Secondly, the qualities that make " a big personality" are often hardly desirable. Actors with presence just have it - its not necessarily a virtue that deserves a vote. Good actors can act a role too - so what you see may be unreal anyway. The life and soul of the party may be someone else's boring, loud, oaf. Whats normal varies by region, background, and culture. Pressure changes what we see anyway. Muscles often work to create a good impression, more than brains. Desire triumphs over analysis of whats really there. And the male cad character often tends to get votes - whereas the slightest suggestion of something similar in a female, produces the opposite reaction.

its also often based on nothing much . We have very little information, and what we see is edited with a purpose . The odd line in the judges marking comment, however silly, becomes truth for many .Ideas cast out by Len soon start being repeated elsewhere - even when he's wrongheaded. The character, as shown by the VT or the choregraphy, becomes something real. The tabloid story, with no truth, acquires a life of its own. We basically see far too little to make any intelligent judgement of most people's real character. We can't tell whats face, whats really being thought, who kicks their dog, or whats a producer's invention. And, often when we do see some thing praiseworthy, people seem to miss it in the detail .

I agree with people saying no one is devoid of personality. Everyone has a personality, whether you like it or not is a different story. You get to see more of their personalities on it takes two, and I find Pixie, Jake, Frankie and Thom likeable, not dull like some are suggesting. But each to their own.

The top 4 (Jake, Frankie, Caroline and Pixie ) actually..... ALL of them are devoid in personality IMO

Shame that one of them will probably win ..............
