Actually, I got into the show through RTD, I'd say his era is my favourite (though this series is coming close..)

It's just the classic thing where the person in charge get's too confident and stops making the full effort, without even realising it.

Moffats tendencies have gradually come to the fore over the time he's been in charge. A tendency to not bother with actual "real people" in the plots for example, so it becomes hard to care.

It also seems sometimes that he doesn't respect the viewer, it's a certain degree of arrogance creeping in.

Since Moffat took over he has, bit by bit, ruined what was once my favourite programme.

This series has been an embarrassment, as was the drivel served up tonight.

New showrunner please!

I think the series just needs a larger writing pool and a bloody good script editor.

Some episodes ive liked and some episodes I haven't. Pretty much the same for every series since 2005. Things haven't changed for me. As for worst producer ever well every producer has good EPs and bad episodes. (yes even hitchcliff). Moffat is no different.

Amazing how these threads only come up after bad episodes - like somehow people forget the better ones that had just taken place. No one would have made this thread after Mummy and Flatline.

And anyway, RTD's era had terrible dreck too. I can only imagine the Love and Monsters/Fear Her one-two punch must have really upset and enraged many back in 2006.

Fear Her was, urhm, quite positively received here at the time.... But yes, it was certainly the same old story for L&M... and we survived.

Apart from the season Moffat's seasons have been consistently better than RTD's. In my opinion of course.

I would have thought people would have been fed up with these RTD vs Moffat threads by now; tedious in the extreme.

Steven Moffat is a brilliant man but he seems to have taken on too much judging by the idiotic content of much of this series. Yesterday was certainly a new low for New Who. To be fair I wasn't bored I was saddened, baffled and disbelieving.

Also labelling Moffat as the worst TV producer ever shows a complete lack of knowledge about television on the OP's part. I'm just saying. Talk about hyperbole, but the man is far, far too successful to be labelled as the worst.

loving this new series. Moffat's back on form for me, now we got over the whole ridiculous idea of the Doctor being some sort of ultimate warrior for the galaxy and he's back to being a traveller.

Any time someone dares to criticise the current series they're attacked and mocked as RTD lovers which is just a cheap shot and easier that actually giving a response with any substance.

Last night's pitiful episode, although not written by Moffat, was typical of this series. It was dull, messy, lacked heart or excitement and had a very weak and abrupt ending.

Stephen Moffat's earlier series lucked out with having Matt, Karen & Arthur. Their performances helped turn mediocre, confused plots and scripting into something magical. That's something that's lacking this year with this Doctor and his unlikeable companion. I just don't care about them.

I watch every episode hoping for an epiphany as I have loved this show so much but each week I'm left feeling disappointed and frustrated.

Hopefully they've saved all the good stuff for the season finale but this hasn't been a classic series and the fault lies firmly at Mr Moffat's door.

The show itself seems to have plenty of tedium at the moment.

We've had two stories in one month in which the natural disaster threatening Earth doesn't happen because the magical miracle of nature makes a naturally magical miracle of a deus ex machina. One was bad enough, but two so close together...?

The OP is undoubtedly correct. Moffat has only managed to produce two of British TVs most popular and internationally successful programmes, the useless bastard.

This is the first time I've ever contributed to a 'Moffat must go' thread.

Half of this series has been terrible. Kill the Moon, Caretaker, Robin Hood, bank heist, and Forest have been 5 of the worst episodes I can recall.

Every series has its ups and downs, but I can't recall so many poor episodes in one series before. If it wasn't was PC being such a great actor this series would be my last.

Thank goodness for the Mummy and Flatline, but 2 good episodes are not enough.

Should he be sacked ? I don't believe so, but I do think he is running out of ideas, just as RTD was doing before he left. I will say one thing though. Dr Who used to be a never miss, must watch when broadcast for me. Now I find I am quite happy to watch in on catch up. I love Capaldi as The Doctor but there is just something about this series that is missing but I'm not sure what. Too many kids ? Mr Pink (who I can't stand) ? too much Clara ? I just don't know.

I have to somewhat disagree with you. For me "In the Forest Of The Night" is the only poor episode this series (albeit an exceedingly poor episode), although one or two of the others I would call "below par".

I can certainly recall another series with more than its fair share of (of what I would consider to be) poor episodes. That would be Series 2. For me, "Fear Her", "New Earth", "The Idiot's Lantern" and "Love and Monsters" were bloody awful, while I can't express much enthusiasm for "Tooth and Claw" either.

I don't think the show's been as good since Moffat took over. For me, whilst there have been some great episodes, there have been far more that it's just a chore to get through. I'm not saying all RTD's episodes were great, they weren't (Love & Monsters, Boom Town and The Unicorn & The Wasp), but the overall feel of his series and arcs was more enjoyable.

I would have loved to see Capaldi's Doctor in an RTD series instead.

I'm sure the BBC will listen to a handful of disgruntled fans rather than look at the track record of a producer who's show is more popular around the world than almost any other BBC show...

If he goes soon despite some of his work I dislike the show will lose a great writer who has written some of my favourite episodes.

Moffat has got lazy with vetting scripts and relies to much on contributions from his pals and 'celebrity' writers. We've only had 12 episodes in this series and to me it's inexcusable that some of the slots have been wasted on crap like 'Robot of Sherwood' and 'Forest of the Night' (I could also mention the dull 'Into the Dalek' and 'Time Heist', neither of which I found particularly interesting).
