This has had me puzzled for weeks, but Frankie Stafford is actually white in normal life isn't she? She's just wearing an awful lot of fake tan?

It's the done thing in ballroom and latin. Some people really go to town. It does make the body look leaner and more toned.
I hate it because I've red/gold hair and it looks a bit weird on me. False eyelashes look at bit odd too. So I stand out on the ballroom floor as the pasty faced, ghost like person with invisible eyes.

Why would you highlight Frankie, when Lisa Riley has been allowed to 'black up' and Iveta was so tantastic her legs were glowing like nuclear fuel rods?
As spin turn says perfectly normal for this type of environment same with on stage performers as well and it was the same for Dancing On Ice. I used to get some funny looks when I went to buy my foundation when I was doing shows as a hobby I was buying really deep tan stuff (pre fake tan being so popular) as it looked awful in normal light but under all the stage lights etc you looked fine. If you don't start off dayglo orange you tend to turn out ghostly white which isn't necessarily what you want (no offence spin turn I fully sympathise with the problems with hair colour and tan) I also hate the whole fake tan false eyelashes thing it's too much for me but just part of the costume I guess as much as the sequins and sparkle is now and a part of the process of doing the show.
Yeah I think Frankie is quite naturally tan anyway, but like the other celebs she probably fakes tans too, maybe it's more noticeable on Her as she has a darker complexion than most of them already without the fake tan.

She definitely has more of a natural tan than some of the other celebs, but she does get a "dark" fake tan as well. With Kevin being so pale as well that makes her look even more tanned

Not offended at all.
. If I were competing in Open competitions I would follow convention and use it (I know it matters to adjudicators) although I would make sure it washed off so that I didn't go into work next day looking like I'd escaped from the Muppets or Rainbow (or an extra on Benidorm). It looks ok on people with dark hair though, like Frankie.
