Two of the most underused characters under DTC tenure and only he knows why.

These characters are been wasted and they both deserve to be rebuilt.

There are some teasers to this in my post on the thread 'If I was Producer'

They are both played by competent actresses. I've read (I think on this site) that Ann has health problems which might contribute to less screentime for Cora. I'm not keen on block storytelling where some actors are not seen for ages. I don't know why Lola hasn't been seen. I love Lola.

How has Cora been undersused?
She's paired up with Stan and so far appeared in 41 episodes, more than Dot.

I have a vague feeling Lola could well be axed so that the Philth and his murderous spawn will be able to have Lexi all to themselves (Billy's character would be totally ignored just like it was when the 'invincible' Mitchell scumbag was terrorising poor Lola for months).

I hope I am wrong as Danielle is very good in the role and is also easy on the eye.

We seem to see more of Cora than Patrick, Dot, Les, Pam, Mo or Babe. She practically lives at the Carters.

They seem to be holding Lola back ATM, but we know that she will have to meet up with Ben at some time, find out about Peter and Lauren, and then there's Jay.......

My Plan-

Following Billy's imprisonment for the murder of Lucy Beale Lola is left feeling like she does not belong in the Square. Sharon and Cora are both concerned for Lola but Ian tells Sharon that Lola is a bad reminder of Billy and therefore Sharon feels caught between a rock and a hard place when Ian orders Lola and Lexi out of Walford, Ian is Sharon's oldest friend but Sharon is once again a Mitchell and so is Lola.

Cora realises that she needs to be a bigger part of Lola's life now as she is Lexi's Godmother and Sharon tells Cora it's time for her to step up.

However fate is about to step in when Cora and Lola's pasts both collide and they are unexpectedly thrown together.....

I would like to see more of Lola and Cora. Unfortunately much of Cora's storylines with her family were wasted. I would like her to find out Abi murdered Lucy (my idea of a sl) and decide to keep her secret but with feelings of guilt. I would like to see Lola with a meaty issue led storyline, perhaps Lexi and a meningitis story. (I'd like the little girl to recover). If properly researched it would be good.

DTC has really underused Lola, Cora, Nancy, Masood, Shabnam and Tamwar.

Cora works well as Stans partner in crime but when he has gone I think Cora should go too. She adds nothing to the show and her characterisation is all over the place.

Mo has taken her crown back as the resident gangster granny and while Anne may be a better actress than Laila, Mo is a much more important character than Cora.

Nancy has had a really busy year, I don't think she can be classed as being underused personally. Masoods are getting their storyline now. Lola and Cora may not have had big stories this year but they have both still played important supporting roles in other stories.

agree. As she adds nothing to the show she fits Vaslavs definition of deadwood so should go

I think Cora is used as much as she can be. The actress (I'm not being mean) doesn't look in the best of health so that might contribute to her lack of screentime. Whenever she is used she's brilliant so I think us Cora fans will just have to be happy with what we get.

Lola is another matter all together. She has been irrelevant in the DTC era. Why did she disappear when Ben came back? That was her chance to finally get a storyline? The actress is so much better than the Branning girls or Whitney. I truly don't understand why the character is neglected.

I don't believe Cora is deadwood, a year ago many people thought Shirley was deadwood!

Scrabbler, I always respect your opinon and your one of the gems on here but Cora could be built up and she would be if I was EP she and Lola would both feature more.

I have outlined briefly that Cora and Lola would have a lot more interaction if I was EP.

I will outline more later.

Bless you sweetie.

If I was EP Cora would be carted off in the back of a lorry, taking her grandson with her.

I adore Lola and Its a shame that she hasn't had a lot of screentime recently. I hope she has a big storyline soon and as a legacy character (I should think being Billy Mitchells granddaughter will merit this) she has a place in EastEnders history.

Not too fussed about Cora, really detested her though during the whole Mick/Rainie debacle.

I do like Lola and Coras relationship though and its a shame that this hasnt been touched upon. I wonder if the writers remember their friendship and that Cora is Lexi's godmother

Lola is anything but underused. She featured very heavily throughout the initial Beale storyline and will no doubt feature heavily once Danielle is back from her break and Lola is reunited with Benny Boy.

As for Cora. She is defo NOT underused. She herself has featured loads this year via her relationship with Stan and then the Rainie stuff. I'm not exactly sure what else you want from her Vas. Ann is 75, she can't be seriously forced to work full time hours at her age.

If you want to talk about underused characters then look no further than Masood who really hasn't had anything to do since that early storyline where he went off the rails for a couple of weeks.

Cora is shocked when she bumps into her estranged Brother Chas in the Vic. Chas and his Grandson Darren are in Walford as they are renovating Number 43 but Cora is shocked when Chas announces that he his Son and Daughter In Law have bought the House and they are all moving to the Square.

Chas' Son Rob and his wife Maxine have also bought new businesses in Walford, Rob has bought the Gym and Maxine has bought Dean's Salon but Maxine has her own reasons for moving to Walford- She is Lola's Mum...

Lola seems to have been shoved aside for no reason. I hope that soo. Billy will leave and she'll have to cope alone and have to turn to phil or ronnie and move in with either of them. I liked the ronnie/Lola mother/daughter bond they formed since Ronnie's release and her turning to phil an ben would be another interesting option. Billy is holding ee character back IMO as he is a weak character with little purpose in the show.

Cora as Ann is older is more unstandable. I think one of her daughters should be brought back or she should be brought back Ito the branning fold for abi/Lauren. She's needs a stronger link than dexter when Stan leaves and I do t want her and Patrick to get back together either as that storyline was messed up and should be left and never touched upon again.
