Least Spammy PAYG Operator?
Tassium
26-10-2014
On Orange PAYG for many years but since EE "took over" it's become spamsville. Specifically marketing from EE.

I don't think there is a way to stop the texts, they don't offer a STOP service. So thinking of moving operator.

Any views on the best operator on PAYG in terms of marketing texts?

You can opt out of marketing texts by calling them. All networks let you choose if you want to hear from them or not for the purposes of telling you about things you might be interested in.

I found the opposite.

Vodafone were still sending me multiple spam texts to me months after I had left them (and of course because I had ported out so sending STOP to the short code no longer worked). CS/we forum/twitter team couldn't (wouldn't?) help, and it eventually took a nasty email to their CEO to get them to stop.

I haven't opted out of texts from Three, and I can't actually recall ever receiving one.

Three I believe. I haven't opted out of anything and have barely receiving anything. maybe once a month if that.

On O2 on the other hand seems its every other day.

Giffgaff has become a nightmare recently.

I have a number that is kept on just for emergencies and I have had god knows how many calls and texts, including the 'I've had an accident' ones.

Love to know when I had this accident

This isn't marketing from the operator - this is just normal spam, which the OP wasn't talking about.
