Apologies if this has been discussed before. But, myself & a work colleague were discussing who missy could be the other day.

I'm told by my colleague that when dr who originally went off air & inbetween 7 & 8, & even maybe after 8 dr who continued in both comic & audio form - & in one story, romana had become the lord or boss of all timelords.

OK! What if the screen that missy is watching & observing the doctor from (IMO a bit like how the Gods could see jason in jason & the argonauts), missy is watching the doctor as somekind of a protector towards him rather than an enemy, & danny pink (as i've posted elsewhere on other threads) is her earthbound soldier keeping tabs?

Now, if what i've read on other threads that K-9 is returning, & in addition, missy is short for mistress - add in my colleague's & i assumption that romana has become the lord/boss of the timelords, who did K-9 always refer to as mistress:

I think Missy is a new character who is called Missy. Either she is a bitter ex of the doctor or she is a obsessed stalker. Deluding herself that she is his "girlfreind" and he loves her.
She has been plotting and scheming for a long time. Clara may be part of it too. Claims to like surprises. Hope she recieves a few in the finale!.

Its all coming together. Missy is romana and clara is the rani. All makes sense now.

After last night's preview I think Clara is Missy with a Slitheen suit on, but the above would be epic too.

I don't think she is Romana or anyone we already know of.

But I agree with the fact it may turn out she is a friend rather than enemy we have not seen her do anything evil or even bad yet all we know is she talks to dead people both good and bad picked Clara and so far Clara has helped The Doctor more than anyone by jumping into his time stream and saving every one of his incarnations and getting the Time Lords to give him a new set of regenerations and she watches them.

She been watching through the spheres in the tardis as revealed last night, also I think she recreating virtual stories to she how he reacts.

Does the fact the Missy says "You know who I am " to the Doctor in next week's trailer suggest she is a returning character rather than someone new ?

Or is a backstory going to be shoe horned in for a new character as with John Hurt's Doctor ?

As long as she doesn't morph into River I don't care!

Or Captain Jack with a sex change op.
