It wasn't a good performance, he mumbled his lyrics and just stood there, not even moving to the music on the spot, most energetic thing he did seemed to be clicking his fingers towards the end.

Surely he was ill (giving him the benefit of the doubt)? You are right, absolutely no spark, none of the glorious enthusiasm of the original. A morose karaoke performance if ever I saw/heard one.
My first thought was!... what's wrong with him!... he always had an outstanding voice, but there was nothing that told me it was him singing!... and the way he was standing!, as if he had retreated into himself!........... Something looked seriously wrong!... I hope it isn't anything to serious................
I'd been looking forward to this especially hot on the heels of another viewing of Worried About The Boy, but this was awful. His eyes didn't look right, underneath all the black make up.I hope it was just a cold or something as I always liked his voice.
