That way this farce voting wouldn't keep happening!

Would often make the dance off pretty pointless.

I wish people would get over this!

If you did that, you render the public vote entirely useless as A) the public wouldn't be getting much of say and B) it'd be the dullest result show ever as you'd know who was going simply by looking at who was ranked last.

That would make the show really boring and predictable and hand way too much power to the producers (who already have too much power anyway). The whole point of the show is viewer participation.

The occasional shock exit is very positive for the show.

Obviously that's no consolation to the fans of the shock eliminee but I'm looking at it from a broader perspective.

I don't think bottom of the leaderboard should be in the dance off but I think in the event if a judges tie it should go to viewer votes.

But then the judges would get accused of manipulating the scores to ensure their least favourites would get the lowest points. Also what would be the point of the viewers votes?

It is OK. S/he is a shock eliminee precisely because s/he has few fans.

I think that if it's a tie, like this weekend, then neither should go.

They are a secret. Or maybe made up.

The bottom of the leaderboard *are* up for the dance off every week. Along with every other couple.

Others are saying that the bottom two should at the very least do the same style of dance .I agree.

You'd know who was going simply by looking at the Spoiler thread on Saturday evening.

Plus a show that goes on involving the celebs the public least want to watch would be a way to kill off viewing figures. For whatever reason more people wanted to watch Scott, Judy, Alison, Sunetra and Steve this week than Simon and Thom.

I don't care. It doesn't bother me at all. I am not going to blow one of my three wishes on this.

The public gets what the public wants. The show is not run for the benefit of the judges. The show is run for the benefit of the voting public.

Why? The public should get the chance to save any and all of the couples, which is fair.

This is not clear from the voting.

You'd get a better result of "what the public wants" by getting the public to rank all the contestants in order and then take an average.

Just perhaps too cumbersome initially but feasible for the last 10 onwards.

If everyone who moans about the result actually voted it would probably be a different story.

Happens every year - yes Thom/ Simon weren't the worst of the night, gut obviously neither clicked with the public during their dances.

I'd imagine Scott, Judy or Allison will be gone next week anyway

BBC are never going to do this so not much point in bringing it up - if the votes counted for nothing there would not be much point in voting - result? the BBC would not get get the revenue from the call.

I would get rid of the vote and have the judges decide ...... just like Masterchef and Bake Off. It works perfectly well there.
They could have two votes each, technique and entertainment.

I agree with you. It is a light entertainment dance competition showing celebs of varying abilities learning to dance. The winner gets a glitter ball trophy. If we are going to hive of sections to be offered up for vote why not just offer the top 4 on the leader board, as they are doing well and have less progress to make. Yes that is a silly idea, but the show is fluff, and if you want a fair dancing competition then go elsewhere.

Yes surely SCD is about contestants with no dancing background improving (and sometimes winning i.e. Gough & Hollins) as well as the ones who obviously have had dance experience before just about dancing everyone
