It's an entertainment show about celebrities learning to dance. I actually think the producers have too much power and the leaderboard shouldn't count towards the results and the dance-off should be scrapped. It would be more exciting if the whole thing was down to the public vote.
I think if you removed all power from the judges the show would lose that vital spark of antagonism between them and the public that has driven the show since Series 1 from Christopher Parker through Tom Chambers and Ann Widdecombe and Louis Smith to the present-day OVERMARKED/UNDERMARKED wars. I do think they should ditch the dance-off though and always have done. That's the one spark of genuine unpredictability I miss.

What's Scot supposed to be working hard on, exactly? I could have a stab at doing his dances the way he does them in less than an hour.

I agree that even though I loved Thom it isn't Scott's fault! People will vote for who they want to keep in, it doesn't matter what criteria they choose for that as it is their vote and they can do what they want with it. Thom didn't get the votes so he was in the bottom two along with Simon he wasn't as strong a dancer as Simon so the judges voted him to leave.

I don't feel like Scott is enjoying the experience much but he has a right to canvass for votes and to promote himself and as long as he's being voted in to stay then that is it. I've always loved the show for having a mixture of talented dancers, real beginners who improve every week and real no hopers. I'm sad when my favourites (whatever their talent is) leave but there is no point in blaming any other contestant or the people voting for them. One year I might like a OK contestant who goes too early, the next I could enjoy a bad one who I vote and help stay in over better dancers. I like that mix and Scott and the people voting for him aren't to blame for Thom not getting enough votes to stay in the competition.

Well done Thom and Iveta on a fantastic serie even though it was cut short today.
At the end of the day, this show is mostly a popularity contest so I wished some people in this forum would stop vilifying Scott (Im starting to feel a bit sorry for the guy ; He is clearly working really hard and putting the hours in and that has to be commended IMO ) ; Its NOT his fault that the public likes him and vote for him every week.....
To be honest I fail to see what's even likeable about him and I would have thought the majority of his "fans" would be watching X Factor anyway. If I were in his position, or Judy's, I'd be acutely embarrassed to the extent that it would be severely reducing my enjoyment of taking part. Still I suppose the money remains an attraction.

Well I am a fan of Scott's radio show & so is hubby! We are middle-aged, conservative, intelligent, professionals; & self-confessed snobs. We find him amusing & a good DJ. (So we are not from the 'yoof' demographic).
I never vote on these shows, (wouldn't waste my hard earned money; as imho the judges have too much clout) however I feel sorry for him, as he is trying so hard and is obviously out of his element, suffers from stage fright & has untreated talipes.
I loathe Simon & I am not surprised he was in the bottom two again, he makes me cringe so much I fast forward all his bits; even when he is on ITT (as we Sky+ everything & watch it later; so we can cut the credits, boring stuff & adverts). I even expect Simon will be joining Scott & Judy again in the dance-off at some stage, (if he's not already out) as he is unpopular. However I don't expect him to give up because he is obviously not very likeable!
I look on Strictly as an entertainment show & don't take the dance competition side of it seriously until the final. They tell us to vote for our favourite & if I was voting; it would be Luke as he's naturally brilliant & as far as my research has gone he's not a ringer.

STOP bashing Scott?

He's rubbish - can't dance, doesn't try and has zero personality.

We'll get to the stage where very good dancers are leaving and this piece of uselessness continues - spoils the show.

He's truly dire - worse than Judy and Alison and that's saying something.

As a total non Scott fan, I have to take issue with that. All the evidence suggests that he tries very hard and puts in the hours in the training room just as much as the others. Unfortunately, he just has no aptitude for dance whatsoever. Maybe if they had a month rather than a week to learn each dance he would fare a bit better but they don't.

That's a very unfair generalisation to say that Scott fans would prefer X Factor. I like him and think that show is complete drivel!

There is plenty to like about him depending on your opinion of what makes someone likeable. I can't see any appeal whatsoever in Judy, but others do... this is how these things work.

It ebbs and flows on my 'anger meter' when rubbish stars stay in however let's be rational:

1. It's not a pro dance competition.
2. The celebs agree to take part, get booked, get a fee.
3. If the voting public spend their hard earned keeping you in, regardless of their reasons, is that the celebs fault? Not really.
4. If a celeb bows out early, how does that make viewers feel that have been spending their hard earned to keep them in?
5. Although there's a balance to be found, unexpected bottom twos etc creates debate between viewers i.e. the show gets talked about.
6. Although the production team can never call it 100%, in terms of dance ability they'll want a celeb mix of 'they're likely to be good', 'they're likely to be average', 'they're likely to be poor.'
7. It's ENTERTAINMENT
Very good points and I agree.

My point exactly. Yes I know he is rubbish but at least he is really trying.....and I think that the people who vote for him really appreciate that.

That is what I find so odd. I don't think Scott is enjoying the experience anymore so why is he canvassing for votes? While I certainly don't expect him to say "I want out, please don't vote for me anymore", there are ways he could let his supporters know he's ready to wrap up his Strictly experience. For example: "Strictly has been an amazing experience but the stress is really beginning to wear on me" or "I never imagined how physically and emotionally draining the show would be". Repeat those lines a number of times and most people would get the message. Since he's not saying those things, I'm left thinking he either wants the money or loves the ego boost he gets from seeing that he's more popular than other celebs.

All of the celebs canvass for votes. It's no particular fault of Scott's if the public want to see him next week instead of Thom or Simon.
Rdaio 1 is a far bigger platform that any other celeb on the show has , he gets about 6 million listeners a week for him to canvass live, not something the others really get a chance to do, so he is in a slightly better position.

Whilst I agree that Scott is not a dancer, I really don't know why he should be subjected to so much criticism. He seems pleasant enough, and takes the judges' comments on the chin. At least he doesn't answer back as Ann Widdecombe used to do.

to put things into perspective when people compare him to Ann Widecome

1 he tries to dance, he does not dictate what the character of the dance should be ie he does not say he does not think Latin should be raunchy.

2 he practices, Ann said she and Anton put in a couple of hours a day, where as Scott and Joanne, practice for hours each day.

3 he stands there and accepts critism, he does not interrupt the judges with pre scripted " witticisms " that were never witty or remotely funny.

4 he accepts being dressed in the costumes the BBC dictate, and does not lay down rules for what he will and will not wear, leading to leggings under costumes so he does not compromise his dignity.

I never found Ann remotely funny, I also don't find Scott on SCD funny and he really cannot dance. However he tries and is willing .

Anne was not, she wanted to dictate everything on her terms and really did not try to learn to dance.

I think there is a re writing of SCD history here when people are lumping Scott in with Ann and saying at least she was funny. To an awful lot of people there was nothing funny about her at all. .

Least we forget Ann saw off Jimi Mistri, Patsy Kensit, Felicity Kendal, Tina O' Brien and Michelle Williams who were all without a doubt much better dancers than her. So far the only person demonstrably better than him who has gone before Scott is Thom.

I don't find Scott entertaining or claim he can dance on SCD, I still like him a lot on his radio show in his comfort zone.

Ultimately I think we all, and I include Scott in this think he would be happier if he left. Of course he is canvassing for votes, his job depends on him being popular, it doesn't mean he has to want to be there though.

Most importantly of all I think to lump him in with Ann Widdecombe would be so personally hurtful to him as she is a famously homophobic biggot where as he is an openly gay man, who has confounded the producers and some viewers with not being camp. I have to say I do wonder whether some of the animosity towards him is because he has had the audacity to not be the camp gay person.

Me too - and I have a really bad foot!

I don't think it is Scott's fault, but he does plug himself on his radio show quite a bit (I actually listened to his show for a couple of days). I really think this should stop.

Although it does happen when a good dancer goes before a bad one, Scott is probably the worst dancer since Christopher in series 1. I am really hoping this is Scott's last week.

Normally people will vote for the "joke" contestant until the first Shock Boot. Or conversely, those who haven't bothered voting before, will do so after the Shock boot.

Will be interesting to see what happens this weekend

Well, the wobbly ship Scott is certainly enlightening. Thom was supposed to be the poster-boy hunk model but didn't have his own platform to canvass for votes, and now he's gone. And we have this basically uncoordinated guy who it's not even clear is enjoying it after all this humiliation, trying to stay in at others' expense. Weird.
