I used to despise Judy. She also came across terribly in my opinion and when I met her (she visited my high school a few years ago, I was head boy so had to show her around), she was very rude and a total snob. I thought I would hate her on strictly, however, I love her now! I think she is coming across amazingly well! I think it the past couple of years she has totally mellowed and has learned to laugh at herself. Pleasantly surprised. Did anyone have the same opinion?

She put me off when watching Andy play, always looking shouty with her mouth wide open. As for her personality I can't comment but she seems nice and I like her more than I thought I would too. Just hope she doesn't stay in too long.

She does come across as better than she appears when watching tennis and certainly better than her very morose son, but perhaps he is better in reality as well!

I'm very much the same! I wasn't a fan the first couple of weeks but after her Tango and Charleston, I've really warmed to her she's pretty funny! Especially during the Halloween trailer, her joke about rigor mortis even made my Mam laugh out loud!

She's never looked like anything other than a passionate, driven, mother, coach, friend, confidant, supporter, fan of a prodigiously talented sportsman to me.

One of those people who have, quite literally, produced a little star in the firmament that gives those of us who love and appreciate everything that sport gives us so much uplifting joy.

And I love her partnership with the much maligned Anton. In my opinion they're bringing out the best in each other.

So there.

She can send herself up .. as can Andy. I like her .. she's a total good sport. She's not a good dancer but actually she didn't look at all petrified on Saturday .. which is a great improvement.

I couldn't hate a randon personality unless they had actually harmed me or someone I cared about.

I've seen her a few times at Davis Cup matches, she is always promoting and playing tennis with children. At breaks between matches she will go down to the court and coach/play with children, she seems nice with the kids.

She seems to be enjoying herself on strictly more than others and she has improved although she is still poor but for someone who clearly had not danced before she is doing fine.

I thought the judges were very harsh with her last night, I thought she was better than both Scott and Alison, she was not the worst of the night and I threw a vote her way for the first time simply to stick 2 fingers up at the judges.

I agree. You should see what a demon I turn into watching Andy Murray and I don't know him. I can't imagine how much more stressful it must be to be his mother and one time coach. I cut her some slack at the court side. ON SCD I have really liked her.

This is the most tolerable I've ever seen Anton. Respect to Judy! she's playing it so much better than Scott.

I'm exactly the same with all of the sport that I love. I'm a shrieking banshee watching athletics.

That's what competitive sport gives us - from unadulterated elation to the depths of despair. And as you say, if I was a progenitor of one of the contestants, I swear I'd self combust.

Neither could I.

I like Judy and enjoy watching both her sons play tennis. And well done to Andy on winning today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/29779530 Britain's Andy Murray saved five match points against Spaniard Tommy Robredo for the second time in a month to win the Valencia Open.

Crappy school buildings filled with adolescents could have that effect on me,too.

Scotland's Andy Murray, surely, being as he's so supportive of independence.

Andy has also said he respects the result and he's happy playing for Britain and being called British. The independence debate was much more complicated than whether or not to call people from Scotland, Scottish or British. And rather irrelevant to this thread.

I've always liked Judy, and think she's often suffered from the media deciding that she has a certain persona, and therefore only printing the pictures of her looking like that. The same goes for Andy. In reality, like most of us, they have their jolly and their serious moments, which they don''t hide, because they are not actors.

Totally inappropriate crowing over getting through as if it was due to talent. Hopefully that will lose her some votes next week.

Well done, Judy for rearing such an amazing and talented tennis player. Well done, also, for doing your best in Strictly, with good grace, despite not being a very talented dancer.

One of the posters in this thread has linked the Murrays with Scottish nationalism in another thread so they opened the door on the topic.
