Wonder if this was a factor for Thom and Iveta? The very second they were paired, the cliches were coming thick and fast, they could hardly be mentioned without a "nudge nudge wink wink" slant to it. I felt things like this backfired against couples on Dancing On Ice, producers trying to engineer a silly implied romance but not popular with viewers. Thoughts?

I couldn't care less about romance/showmance.

Probably an unpopular view, but I vote for the best dancer (in my uneducated opinion!)

Natasha & Brendan and Kara & Artem won, Matt & Flavia came second... so not always, no.

James Jordan got to the final twice despite the long standing love affair with himself.

I love the romance thing, it makes me watch the chemistry between the couples. You can just tell when someone fancies the pants off the other. And lets be honest, who can blame them. All those dancers are smoking hot!! I fancy them all! Haha, but seriously, for me I enjoy that aspect.

Dunno about that, but it certainly seems to turn the BBC on, they even try to promote it.

I would have thought it was more the lack of chemistry that would have put people off. There was no real spark there. I think the pros have to be careful when they're put with stereotypical hunks because viewers don't like to feel like they're being told who to fancy - you get all sorts of bizarre superiority complexes building up from people over fancying people who aren't "obvious" and how it means they've got sophisticated tastes in men or whatever. I think Iveta/the script just went on about how HOT Thom was all the time a bit too much and it felt forced. I never felt like either of them really fancied the other at all or even seemed like it a little bit.

(*cut to 11 months time and them doing a Pasha/Rachel*)

To me Thom and Iveta didn't even seem to get on let alone fancy each other.
