If Kush is an Iranian Muslim then he'll almost certainly be a Shia. Shabnam is undoubtedly Sunni. These two sects absolutely despise one another. In fact Sunnis think Shias are heretics. It's too big an issue not to be addressed if EE pairs these two together.

Interesting, could be part of the story as we know shabnam has come back more strict.

Oh yeah, the Protestants and Catholics, well known for their completely civilised nature towards one another.
Is Kush religious though? If he's not, then it might not be an issue. I have a feeling the writers will just brush it under the carpet to avoid tackling any sensitive questions. EE has never done a good job of exploring religion and has a rather smug/dismissive attitude toward it.
Although if Kush is meant to be Iranian, then one would think the writers chose that nationality specifically because the majority of Iranians are Shia and knowing this would cause conflict with Shabnam's character. I just can't see the writers being able to sustain a whole storyline out of it though. Like I said, religion is not EE's strength.

I agree that the writers and DTC might have made Kush Iranian for a reason however people thought Shabnam and Lee would come into conflict or become a pair but they haven't.
