Her nationality has little to do with it. All the independence talk is ridiculous. I don't vote for someone because of their nationality. I vote because I like them. I'm scottish but I'm certain there have been scottish people dancing before who I haven't voted for because I didn't like them. So what if she's staying in over better dancers, that's what happens. She won't win, but that's fine. She's having a ball and maybe that's what people see.

Well said! Judy is showing some improvement, she is having a ball and is able to laugh at herself. She and Anton have a great partnership. That is why people are voting for her. It is nothing to do with her nationality.

Personally I vote for the best dancer, I don't care where they come from.

I am sure that there will be some Scots who will be voting for Judy for no other reason than she is Scottish, just as I am sure there will be some people from Essex who will be voting for Mark Wright for no other reason than he is from Essex.

However, I am sure that there are plenty of Scots who will not be voting for Judy, despite her nationality, because, for example, she can't dance very well and they prefer one of the other celebs.

People vote for all sorts of reasons, some of them totally inexplicable, so it is naive to believe that all 4 million Scots would vote for Judy just because of shared nationality.

Judy will never make a good dancer, but of all those who fall into that category in all the series of Strictly, I do find her the most entertaining and fun to watch. I'm not surprised people are voting for her.

I'm voting for her, I'm not Scottish, I just think she's a good laugh and I'm enjoying seeing her improve. Whatever the judges thought, I thought her Charleston was A- MAZE- ING !

From last night Pixie would be considered the best dancer. I don't think I'd ever vote for her, she is so annoying.

I'm Scottish but have never voted for Judy or Thom who's also Scottish, I prefer Frankie, Jake and Caroline.

I started watching thinking she'd be an old misery and she was "only Andy's mum" and then wanted her out because she was so completely rubbish at dancing. But she's such a lovely positive person, ready to laugh at herself and really trying to improve that I'm actually rooting for her now. I'm enjoying seeing how much better she can get each week. It doesn't matter to me that 'better' doesn't mean 'good'. I haven't voted for her yet - but only because I'm too slow to get to the computer before the vote closes.
And I'm not Scottish, I've only been to Scotland two or three times in my life, can't always even understand what Scottish people are saying!

Judy gets votes because she is a likeable person and because a key voting bloc - middle aged and older women can identify with her and her joy in being in the show.

Her being Scottish has little to do with it I expect.

Bit of a dilemma for us Scots on who to vote for

Judy or Thom? Judy or Thom?Judy or Thom?Judy or Thom?Judy or Thom?

At least the Indian Scousers and Afro Caribbean Brummies have just the one. Sigh

NB Just in case anybody was unsure I am being sarcastic. It is ridiculous and patronising to suggest Judy is ONLY still there because of Scots voters. Some idiot on the BBC blog suggested Scotland shouldn't be able to vote like Ireland. Give me strength

True. I live here in Scotland, but I don't vote for her and I don't know anyone who does. Personally I vote for the best dancer, and always have.

I'm intrigued by her channeling of Sharon Stone. Perhaps this year's Crotchgate will not feature Kristina after all...

Some of the comments in here are slightly laughable and either disingenuous or just plain naive (more likely). Sure there are LOTS of Scots that don't vote for Judy just as there are LOTS of non Scots that do for for her. However, history has proved in these such reality shows that when someone has a strong national identity, be it Scottish, Irish, Welsh or wherever, there IS a large contingent that will vote for them as 'home' support. It's just the way of things. She's been one of the worst dances every single week, she doesn't seem to have a great deal of personality or 'life' to her. Sure she might be a lovely lady and show some, albeit it small, improvement, but to say she is staying in it purely for this reason is naive in the extreme. She hasn't been in the dance of yet, even from the start when there was no 'improvement' and we saw nothing of her being a 'lovely lady'. That says it all as far as I'm concerned.

Can we merge all the "Judy gets votes because she is Scottish" threads?
Then lock the one big thread?

I like Judy's attitude. She can't dance for toffee but I love her personality and her relationship with Anton. Surprisingly nice and young at heart lady.

How do you know?

I believe her pro scottish independence stance and her sons fans are her main support.

How can you state, as a fact, that this is not the case?

Sounds reasonable

You say that like there are a lot of them, there are not.
Now, that is a fact.

I thought she was pushing her luck with that comment, could just imagine Bruno blurting out some very dodgy joke about it.

There were three threads going yesterday evening all saying the same thing, all equally daft.
Take that as a fact if you want. Or not.

Oh OK, you cant just accept you're making incorrect claims?

So, if you wish to prove your claim as a fact.

Can you link the threads you are referring to?

How many threads are there on the SCD forum this year?

What %age would you define as "a lot"? 40? 50? 70? or 0.002%?

On the first page just now i only found this thread.

Sorry, but I don't have the time or inclination to hunt for them but they are there because I read them. Why else would I have posted what I did if I hadn't? I've seen several over the last couple of weeks

If you really need to know who said it you are welcome to search. HTH

I'm not sure why you feel it necessary to forensically dissect my posts (and that of others) demanding links. There's a search function you can use.
