I really think that the music choice didn't help Thom's chance of staying in Strictly. It was awful

I don't think that the music influenced it one way or the other. It was the lottery of a public vote that did for Thom. Several years ago, we had John Sargent, who was about as inept a dancer as any of us will ever see. He was also a really nice guy, however, and everybody liked him. So many voted for him, keeping him in week after week, that there was a danger that he might actually win. Eventually, he did the honourable thing and left of his own accord lest he make an inadvertent mockery of the show.

If the public voted purely on ability, neither Thom nor Simon would have been in the dance-off. Neither is good enough to win, in my opinion, but both are streets ahead of Scott and Judy. I can only assume that Scott's Radio One fans are keeping him in while Judy is supported because of her much more famous son. I can see Judy Murray doing a John Sargent if she progresses much further. Not so sure about Scott.

Thom was a fairly shy middle-ranker with a comparatively small fanbase doing dodgy Latin. There were only three people below him on the leaderboard. The music may not have helped, but only so far as the whole dance was pretty unmemorable, Iveta's dress aside.

John Sargent, incidentally, resigned from the show because he was booked to present a series of lectures on a cruise line and had never expected to get so far. His so-called "honourable" gesture was driven entirely out of self-interest.

And the public - which includes us, we're not special and our votes don't count double just because we post on here - don't, and never have, voted purely on ability, because it's not a pure dancing competition. It's a light entertainment show based on dancing, and every week the viewers are invited to vote for their favourite.

Apparently Scott begs for votes throughout his radio show! It is a popular show so that is how he gets the votes.

I think the phone numbers should be changed each week.

Thom was progressing and might have been doing OK in the voting beforehand, but he was mid table with the judges and that was a pretty duff cha cha cha. What is it with burly blokes and regression into the discotastic? Steve did a duff cha cha cha too, but it was early doors and he got away with it.

Men never, ever look good doing the cha cha.

But you have to be able to camp it up to the max and basically take the p*ss out of what is a very girly dance.
And it helps that Mark is an actor, and Thom isn't.

I do agree that you either have to be spot on at it, or stuff it and just treat it as a laugh. I think Iveta was up the creek without a paddle this year because she just could not do that with Thom, he wasn't that sort of contestant..

Thom wasn't popular enough with the voters.

I was less keen on Simon & Kristina's music.

See, I think he might have been in other weeks. I just think the dance wasn't popular this week. Even the audience hardly booed when the critiques were delivered.

Nearly all the music choices are terrible. Louise Rainbow the executive producer is clearly tone deaf.

I quite liked the music. What did for Thom is that he was up against another pretty good dancer instead of Alison, Scott or Judy, who should have been there.

Yes - I think it was worse than Thom's CCC music. .

As I said before, in the early days we had vote for the best dancer, now its vote for your favourite.

I liked Thom but not enough to vote for him, or Simon for that matter.

Judy ,Scott or Alison should have been in the dance off. But people vote for who they want, that is the nature of the show.
