Bollywood dance?
I read somewhere a few weeks ago that at some point during this series they would be introducing Bollywood as a style of dance? Is this true as I haven't heard anyone speak about it?

Let's stick to classic ballroom. We get little enough as it is. Mind you in "the quest for increased ratings" anything is possible. There's plenty of Bollywood on other channels. |

it is going to be a pro dance I think - to produce a routine in the style of a bollywood film should not be too difficult even without knowledge of Indian dance styles
some of the pros find it hard enough doing ballroom and latin without introducing dance styles that they are not trained in |

I thought it was going to be a pro dance as well. Perhaps the celebs could join them. I read somewhere that Sunetra's Mum was a Bhangra dancer and that she did it when she was younger, or was that just another rumour.
Oh just looked on Wikipedia and it says her Mum was an Indian dancer. |

http://youtu.be/tRAPPUEFa4k?t=23s Bhangra is Punjabi (Sikh) folk dancing - mainly (only?) males and drummer dominant music. http://youtu.be/AY73yUSYtqo?t=1m1s I suspect we will see something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD-LFksC1Nc Anton will be the one to watch. |

I've watched Bollywood films and the singing, dancing and array of colour is great, but I don't want it on Strictly. They don't even have time to complete the amount of dances they have now.

I hope not, but if they did, would Sunetra be teaching Brendan?

I don't mind it if its either a pro dance or an extra dance in the style of swing-a-thon as something colourful and a bit different- But in main competition, they already have a skip dance as it is, introducing another kinda devalues the competition

At the beginning of October I had a weeks holiday in France and managed to see an episode of 'Dance avec les Stars'. Thankfully a fluency in French was not needed, but the format was somewhat familiar, even down to the theme music, set and judges line-up!
It may have been a 'special' week, but the dances were very different. From memory and post red wine haze there was Bollywood, Flamenco, Bolero ( similar to Rhumba), African Jazz (think Lion King), Country Style (think barn/line dance) and Classic Dance ( think ballet, pas-des-deux and tights ). The other main difference was the scoring. The judges gave two sets of marks foe technical merit and artistic interpretation.Must look out for it again next time we are sur le continent! There was even a version of Bake Off. Janet |

I love watching Bhangra when it is done properly. Even if they were to use it as a pro dance, the pros only get a couple of hours a week to learn the pro routine, impossible to learn a completely new style and do it justice in that time, so I hope it is only a rumour.
Or maybe they could get a group of real Bhangra dancers in as the results show entertainment - be more interesting than washed-up has-been singers!!!! |

Why are a lot of people so critical of the new things and routines that Strictly try? I rather enjoyed the barn dance, it's interesting to see them mixing it up.

If they can invite that freestyle couple why not some Bollywood group, done professionally it could be interesting in one of the results show.

i like bollywood and i love bhangra and would be happy to see either on the show - but perhaps restricted to a 'specials' week as someone described above, and i'd far rather have that than any number of the 'themed' events.

Bollywood is Mumbai produced slick musical film style music. All popular songs come from Bollywood films.

The whole barn dance was terrible, I wouldn't just pick on Anton.
![]() Most people saw it as fun upbeat segment and enjoyed it for what it was. I think the Bollywood style of group dancing will be done as a similar segment. Im sure it will be well done and in good humour. You can take the opportunity to go to the loo. |

It depends whats going on in your life I suppose, all things are relative, SCD is a bit of fun to me, but to some people it seems to really matter to them. |
