Scott came in saying that he was clumsy, all his friends who've come in say that he's never danced in their presence, he's said that he's not going to win, and to my mind he looks far more uncomfortable with all the fake "WELL WE THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT DIDN'T WE LADIES AND GENTS!" bollocks that Tess sprays everywhere like ticker-tape than any of the negative comments from the judges, most of which he laughs off.

If I were picking he'd have left about two weeks ago and I don't particularly like him (I distinctly remember him a few years ago saying that he wants to be "the British Perez Hilton" which...is one of the few recorded cases of somebody aiming so low they could never hope to hit it) but I really don't think he over-estimates his own abilities.

Scott Mills attracts Radio 1 listeners to Strictly & Strictly viewers to him on Radio 1. A Win-Win situation for the BBC even if he cant dance. He is doing "Strictly Come Dancing Bingo" on his radio 1 show on Thursday at about 1.40. Should be interesting.....

If you start with 15 good or beta plus dancers two or three good ones who CAN entertain will leave in the first two weeks each year and they won't be able to experience much of the show and we won't be able to watch them., By having half a dozen or so duffers the good ones will be in for at least eight weeks or so.

By my reckoning there are a six poor dancers this year and the rest are either quite good or very good. That, I would say, is a successful mix of ability.

Are you sure? I know no-one who is remotely interested in listening to him on Radio 1!

They might not get picked for the show to get the first two weeks of the show but at least they would have a few weeks of working with the professionals in the auditions. Tim might still have learned enough to be able to dance with his wife. I understand it ain't perfect but it HAS to be better than getting Mills, Widdecombe, Sargeant et al imvho

I think you're missing the point though. The BBC WANT the "duffers", because they invariably appeal to a certain, fluid, sector of the audience and because the resulting "shock boots" and "so bad it's good" routines get people and the media talking about the show, even if a lot of that talk is outrage (or mock outrage).

"Better" is subjective. It would be better for YOU, because you are a dance purist. It wouldn't be "better" for the BBC, who know that starting with 15 competent dancers would have more people reaching for the off switch than otherwise. Strictly is consistently winning maximum audience share in its slot, knocking the X Factor out of the park, so as far as the BBC goes it's a roaring success.

The most publicity the show ever generated was because of Sargentgate, with Widdy probably a reasonably close second. The exploits of the skilled dancers just don't generate the same column inches so there is no way the "duffers" are going to stop being invited to participate any time soon.

I don't think I've known this forum as busy as it was during Sargentgate.

Nor have I ever known anything like the euphoric high when Widdy finally got the boot.

If you get a duffer lasting longer than people think they should it gets pretty hysterical on here. Nine people were eliminated before John Sergeant withdrew. Posters reacted like it was the apocalypse. It was worth a bit of bad dancing to experience that.

I've just read a post saying that someone is voting for Scott and Steve this coming Saturday.................yep, before they have even danced! So talent, performance and improvement are right at the top of their list of criteria!!!

To answer the original question, I think most of Scott's votes are from supporters who don't watch him and vote online using their mobiles.

Hardly fair is it that Scott leaks photos of him with 1D. Funnily enough I used to like him but think he is a user. Anything for publicity.

I mean...it's fairly obvious that all of the celebs have people on here who will vote for them regardless of what they do on Saturday. It's hardly a unique hallmark of "Scott fans".

I'm pretty sure that some people try to vote for couples who have already been eliminated.

Also executive producer Louise rainbow is ensuring Scott stays in for as long as possible, she probably wants him to do the tour, so in fairness its a fix.

How can they possibly know to vote in the short space of time that the lines are open without having at least half an eye on the TV? I don't know why people find it so hard to believe that people like to vote for the poor dancers. We are now 12 series in....!

Every time I see "scotts voters" in the title of the thread I wonder what the Scots voters viewing habits have got to do with this. I imagine they all vote for Judy.
