Jay's turned into a major jerk, Abi's tittering on becoming a derange nut job and Lola's none the wiser it seems, why Ben plays the go between.

Is anyone else buying Jay utter lack of concern for Abi and the way his just brush her over like she was nothing to him, I understand Abi can be annoying but he just dropped her that's it after 3 years for supposedly being in love with Lola, despite the lack of chemistry.

Lola returned after weeks away and seems oblivious to it all, Abi turns up in the pub, gives her dirty looks and says nothing too her, Lola can see something is wrong but doesn't go to talk to her? this is suppose to be her best friend.

Ben's actions in all this seems rather suspicious.

What's members thoughts in on this sub-plot?

I thought the scene was a little odd. Personally they should have had Abi leave to go to uni, keeping her on as a recurring character making regular guest appearances. I do not see the point in keeping her (unless, of course she killed Lucy)

As for Jay, I do agree he seems heartless towards Abi. It's as though Ben has changed him

Lorna Fitzgerald's attempts at acting are getting worse by the episode. I've seen better acting in children's television. How long before an executive producer bites the bullet and either recasts or axes Abi? It really is amateur hour whenever she's on screen. People can crticise Dexter (who I don't like in the slightest) all they want but even he can act better than Abi.

On the subject of Jay, this character is badly defined and underdeveloped. Too many years spent in the wilderness with Abi. I don't think he's be any major loss to the show either.

This. I'm interested in the new direction they're taking Abi in, but to be honest I think it it was the perfect end to her arc since 2006. If this new Abi goes wrong they could jeopardise Abi's character.

The entire storyline is one massive joke. DTC clearly doesn't care about any of the characters involved - but then they're not Carter's so why would he?

How long have we watched this friendship group developing? Abi and Jay have been together forever, whilst Lola has been friends with them for as long as she's been in the show.

Jay's character has been completely destroyed, whilst Lola's and Abi's friendship has become a joke. The producers/writers seem to be attempting to change their history together. I'm not quite sure what they're trying to achieve here, but if they wanted Jay and Abi to split up, then there were much better ways of going about it.

It pisses me off when we invest so much time (YEARS, in this case) into couples/friendships etc. and then a new producer comes along and destroys those relationships on a whim. As a group, the writing has become inconsistent, fickle and a farce for these characters and it's such a shame to see.

There is a lot of truth in this, but I think the problem lies with writers. Because there is a way they could make the storyline work without having it seem so forced example. Lola sitting so far away from Abi asking what she was looking at was way off the mark.

There was no ill friend she took Lexi to hide until Ben had gone, but I think she realised Ben wasn't going anywhere so came back.

Ben/Jay/Lola/Abi used to be such a strong friendship group, and Lola was as tough as nails. The way they've split them up, with Lola not confronting Abi or being warm towards Ben is crazy. Jay is now callous, Lola is a wimp, Abi is bitter and Ben has turned into Mother Teresa.

They really should have sent Abi to college, unless as was suggested she is the killer where on earth does her character go from here. She could go off and make an appearance once in a blue moon like Libby

I love abi and always have done as she was the innocent uncomplicated kid who had ambitions but I'm really intrigued with her new direction. In fact I've been through a similar one when a lot of thing for to me and it shut of and became cold towards the poeople that caused it. Hope abi didn't kill lucy though and Lorna is a good actress otherwise she would of been recast in 2011/12 when abi turned 16. She's one of the few child characters not to be recasts the only others being Denny, Tiffany, Morgan who have been in it for a while

I like Abi but I would prefer Jay to be with Lola. I think Peter dragged Lola down and ruined her confidence. I believe Abi killed Lucy. I think therefore she will be written out after the Lucy reveal.

Agree with this 100%

Well said.

Abi fell for a guy who is quite similar to her beloved father. Max is very cold when he dumps women who outlive their usefulness before moving on to another. Jay did the same thing to Abi.

They really should have sent Abi to college, unless as was suggested she is the killer where on earth does her character go from here. She could go off and make an appearance once in a blue moon like Libby
Abi is the daughters of two narcissistic drama junkies. Her mother, sister and grandmother are alcoholics and her father is possibly a sex addict. Lauren was treated by her parents as an equal while Abi's role in the family was to achieve academically and be a bellhop. There is a lot that could be done with a character with that background. A lot of attention has been given to how Manya's dysfunction affected Lauren but not Abi.

I like Abi but I would prefer Jay to be with Lola. I think Peter dragged Lola down and ruined her confidence. I believe Abi killed Lucy. I think therefore she will be written out after the Lucy reveal.
Jay would be even worse for Lola's confidence. He was very threatened by Abi's success and punished her for being cold and moody and flirting with Lola in front of her. Jay would undermine Lola's attempts at independence when his insecurities began surfacing again.

The entire storyline is one massive joke. DTC clearly doesn't care about any of the characters involved - but then they're not Carter's so why would he?

I agree. Without Abi that friendship group will become a Mitchell youth clique.

In agreement with a lot of these points - a lot of truth here. Insightful post

I can't say I'm that bothered that Jay and Abi have split up they were dull together and Jay and Lola have had a thing in the past. I remember them kissing around the time she had Lexi.
