Colette leaves next week so who do you think will take over her position. I personally would love to see one of the nurses from the early days of Holby city to take over the role. Thoughts?

I doubt they'll replace her. They've never really made proper use of the position - she just seems to act as some kind of bank nurse most of the time - covering wards with actual clinical duties when in fact she'd be in meetings most of the time and swamped with admin duties.

If they did though, hard to say. Jonny was only promoted to CNM early this year so it would be unrealistic for him to be promoted again so soon. Even more so for Fletch who only qualified 3 years ago - she shouldn't have reached Ward Manager level yet.

Not that many Nurses have actually made it out alive! Jasmine, Julie, Kath, Karen Faye and Chrissie are about the only ones I can think of that would have the necessary experience and seniority for the role and Angela griffin is busy on Lewis and I don't want Chrissie or Kath back. Faye was also getting stale by the time she went. Julie would be the best option for me though Karen was quite good. Lisa Fox would be interesting but again the actress is busy on EE.

Anne-Marie? Am I being dense? I don't remember an Anne-Marie who was a nurse. Lady Byrne was Anne-Marie I think. Then Annalese, spence's wife was a Gasser and of course we currently have the lovely Marie-Claire.

Ideally? Charlie Fairhead. He could stay on Casualty but pop up on Holby City when they need a director of nursing. (So...not very often then.)

Realistically, hard to think of any of the current cast who could do it, although I'd forgotten about Jonny and he'd at least be a more sensible choice than Fletch. The first past character I thought of was Mark Williams actually: It'd be a bit of a step down, having been CEO in the past, but he's got enough of a connection with the likes of Elliot, Ric, Jac and Michael if he was still around to make it interesting. Tempted to suggest Chrissie or Faye just to see who threw something at me but actually for nostalgic and heterosexual reasons I'd quite like to see Julie Fitzjohn back as well, as a ward sister 10+ years ago she'd definitely have the seniority. I don't think there's anyone left who'd remember her though. Even Ric wasn't there then, it was still Mike Barratt in her day!

Ship in Lisa "Duffy" Duffin from Casualty! Either that or cast a new character.

I remember her. Julie, Jasmine or Karen would be my best choices of past HC characters - they were all Sister / Ward Manager level 10 to 15 years ago so not unbelievable they could be at that stage career wise. Though wasn'( Julie pregnant when she left and intending to stop work for a while which might have slowed her down. Jas was more of a go getter likely to rise up the ranks.

Kath and Chrissie are 2 of my most hated characters ever so don't want either of them back.

Mark would be logical but again I'm a bit biased against the Williams.

Jonny is certainly the most senior nurse in Holby now and one of the most senior we've ever had. He's at the position charlie Fairhead was circa season 9 or 10 before he started refusing promotions because he wanted to stay 'on the shop floor' so 3 or 4 years DON would just about be believable for Jonny but not quite yet.

Jasmine would be the one I would find most believable to have done that well and i'd be interested to see more than 10 years on.

I think she could also handle Guy as she was a firey character. Angela Griffin needs to come back to holby

True, Julie was pregnant when we last saw her and just got married, but she might have only taken a year or so out. I seem to remember she was keen on advancement but felt she was overlooked because she was a single mother and the old boys' network didn't think she had the right level of commitment (only to suddenly be ward sister in S3 without much set-up). Jasmine was a curious one, she was Karen's deputy in S1 but then she took that curious side-step in S2 when she became a nurse practitioner on Keller and kind of got looked down on by everyone as an awkward halfway stage between a doctor and a nurse to the point it almost felt like a dead end. She might actually have retrained as a doctor if her ambitions lay in that direction...

I thought it was Mary-Claire, not Marie-Claire.

It possibly is. I'm not sure i've checked the credits. I just subconsciously go for the French spelling of Mary, Marie for that name.

Oh god I wouldn't. Never in my 35 year history of watching soaps have I depised a character so much. She was well past her sell by date as far as I was concerned. But each to their own!! Vive le difference!
