Foodies fooled by Maccy D

Looking online for a recipe. Stumbled on this:

Dutch pranksters trick foodies into thinking McDonald’s is gourmet food.

http://metro.co.uk/2014/10/22/dutch-...-food-4916793/

If it's old news (Oct 22), can a mod delete this thread? TY.

And....for those who missed the story.....wine tasters are just as easily fooled.

'French academic Frédéric Brochet tested the effect of labels in 2001. He presented the same Bordeaux superior wine to 57 volunteers a week apart and in two different bottles – one for a table wine, the other for a grand cru.

The tasters were fooled.

When tasting a supposedly superior wine, their language was more positive – describing it as complex, balanced, long and woody. When the same wine was presented as plonk, the critics were more likely to use negatives such as weak, light and flat.'

There was a BBC show where they fooled wine tasters into thinking they were drinking red by adding food colouring.

All the descriptions were those commonly used for full bodied red wines.

Cliff Richard was on a programme some time back promoting his own brand wine from his vineyards.
They sprang a tasting on him and he couldn't identify his own.
He chose a cheaper one.
It was a bit cruel

I wish this thread was in GD, its a good demonstration of what has happened where you often get people who will criticise fast food, or junk food on the basis of the taste.

Half of these people probably never eat junk food, so dont actually know what it tastes like.

Mcdonalds is popular throughout the world, so we have to assume that enough people like the taste of it, to keep it in multimillion pound business. Why is that, if its so awful to taste.
