Call it a day on Phil Mitchell owning everyone? yes
call it a day on Phil Mitchell in general? No. Phil is a great character and Steve is great actor, it will be terrible when he finally leaves. |

so you thought you would start another
![]() I like phil, I like him as the head of the mitchells and king of the square and don't want to see him go anywhere. I think they at times especially this year shown a mellower/softer side to phil which has been good |

Don't want him to leave, I just want him rejuvenated or reinvented or maybe him reverting back to his early relaxed 90s personality that made Sharongate happen.
I used to love Phil all the way up to about 2011/12, He's getting older now. Time for a change of direction. |

I don't want him to leave. Phil is a good character, however his constant getting away with crap is wearing thin.

I don't mind Phil, but why do they have him diminishing and humiliating every other character in the show.

Steve Owen should have killed the sewerage of Philth all those years ago.
The show would then be in a far better place because every single storyline he is in is so bloody boring - we all know that TPTB have to literally kiss his stinking fat arse 5 times a day. There is no tension at all when someone is seen as a living God who is allowed to humiliate otherwise good, strong characters (like Charlie) on a daily f*****g basis. |

Calling for Phil to be axed or to leave is pointless, sorry to break it to you, he isn't going anywhere and thank GOD for that

I see loads of threads moaning about popular characters like Alfie, Phil, etc.. I don't want Phil to ever call it a day, EastEnders wouldn't be EastEnders without Phil! He can be a bit controlling though, what Phil needs is a huge comeuppance, I just hope an executive producer can come in, and bring Phil back to his routes, and building the character back up again, I'd like to see Phil have a complete breakdown again aswell, and for him to become very evil! There's lots that can be done with Phil!

It's a shame they didn't do the stroke storyline on Phil, I honestly think that was a missed opportunity. It could have been interesting seeing him become a fragile, mere mortal and needing help from others, rather than the usual "I deflect bullets" comic book storyline.

I personally don't want him to leave, I would prefer a lot more nuance. But that's true for a lot of characters.

It doesn't have to destroy the character to do this, it could open up new directions for him. How about he gets smarter, more manipulative, more like Archie perhaps? Or he gets younger acolytes involved to do his threatening for him rather than than this late middle aged man with a serious heart condition and several bullet wounds 'owning' and threatening half the Square. |

I rather phil be weaker and finally no longer king of the square and ronnie or ben take over. If this doesn't happen I think the character should go on a break.

Phil is a good character but I hate how he drags other characters down so that he remains 'top dog'. Shirley, Billy, Ben, numerous others in the past and now Charlie is another one indebted to him. (sort of)
Phil needs a new rival, one that he doesn't end up owning, one that keeps him on his toes, not like Derek - that was a complete fail and ended up with Phil keeping the crown. He isn't superman but he is being portrayed that way. I kind of prefer Phil when he is on is uppers actually and would like him to be taken down a peg or two. His macho trip, especially the other night with Ronnie and Charlie is getting quite tiresome. |

Phil should never be axed but they do need to start addressing his age. He is getting older. Jay and Ben don't have what it takes to be the next wide boys either. So there is a storyline to have here about the Mitchell's losing power.
What the show needs is a new set of male brothers maybe similar to what the Braxton's in Home & Away were. Phil can't be seen as god of Walford for much longer. Its too much of a joke now. It makes a mockery of things. The worst was when Philth was all ''I own you'' to Jase. Jase could have snapped Phil's neck there and then if he wanted. That's how daft it all now is. |

That was so incredibly embarrassing - five minutes before Jase had been willing to take on an entire firm of football thugs all by himself. But one wheeze from the Philth and he was a broken man.

He's not going to leave. He's not likely to be cast in anything big. I think he's type casted himself. Well he might get a leading part in a pantomime. I think he likes doing those, but they're for kids so most people aren't likely to see him.

Phil shouldn't go yet but he needs a proper rival. Steve McFaddern says he misses characters like Steve Owen and Dan Sullivan as they challenged Phil. Yet the more recent watered down characters like Carl just don't stand a chance because more recently Phil cannot be toppled from his throne. If they must do this they should have a long term arc where Phil does lose it all but eventually gets it all back. Not these silly one week on crack or drink.
