Am I the only person in the world who doesn't like this Ronnie-Charlie crap?.
Sorry but this soppy crap is just annoying me!!
there's no inherent reason for Ronnie & Charlie to get together other than the fact that they had a one night stand & she got pregnant. I will concur that the 2 actors have some chemistry together but it's hardly a sexual frisson! I personally find Charlie a damp squib. He came in as an interesting character-was he/wasn't he a con man?? Was Dot being sold a lie of a devoted grandson? Was he a copper or not? What was the role of his mother-was she even his mother?? Was Dot in any danger & was nick behind it?? Errr- Turns out not. he is really Dots grandson & concocted a story about his father dying for some reason I've forgotten. He's not a policeman, he's a janitor. I don't know if we've been told why he pretended To be a copper, but it didn't seem for a very interesting reason. His mother really is his mother & they have no nefarious motives. Then he's been dropped for months. They seem to have fallen in love mainly based on the fact that she's carrying his child. What I found risible is that he discovered his bride of be is a murderer & ababy snatcher & seems utterly unphased by this. TPTB cottoned (pun intended) on that he was popular & Suddenly he's been paired up with Ronnie to give the tragic heroine a happy ending of a baby AND a man (we all know this won't last). I'm expecting a big Xmas wedding and or birth to counteract the Carter dramas elsewhere. Not liking this saccharine tripe. |

A good relationship doesn't require "sexual frisson".
I like Charlie and Ronnie because their getting together was very old-fashioned; semi-convenient + semi-romantic. Couples used to marry out of convenience all the time back in the day with their marriages lasting lifetimes. What I'm hoping with Charlie and Ronnie is that they both share a dark side in common. We know Charlie is a bit of a con artist and Veronica a baby-snatching man-eating killer so I'm hoping tptb will still embrace this side of them or else I'll go off them and find my way into the EastEnders universe to report them to the police for their many crimes... |

I like them together.
I don't often agree with Dot, but I agree that it's nice that two people from unhappy backgrounds could find happiness together. But unfortunately, I don't think it'll last. Ronnie's secret about killing Carl and covering it up is bound to come back at some point and ruin things and I don't get the feeling that Charlie will be staying after this storyline with Nick and Dot is finished. His relationship with Dot is all based on a lie, so it will probably be ruined when she realises Charlie was involved with faking Nick's death and lying to her all this time and watching her grieve. There's probably more to it though, we don't know why Charlie agreed to faking Nick's death or how Les Coker is involved and why.

I am just thoroughly enjoying Ronnie having some happiness for a change. It's long overdue. So yes it's soppy and not especially "interesting" viewing but it's nice. You need a bit of nice sometimes, to contrast with the drama and twists and everything else. I'm finding it quite a welcome change and making the most of it before it inevitably goes wrong!

Although it does seem rushed to an extent, I'm going to give the writers the benefit of the doubt on this one, as I think Samantha Womack's other work commitments prevented the storyline from developing at a natural pace. Which is presumably why key elements off the storyline was crammed in upon Womack's return.
Could the storyline off been paced better? Yes of course. But there is only so much scriptwriters can do when a particular actor is not available. Of course they could prolong the storyline but that would do more harm than good in the long run. |

I can tentatively confirm that you might well be the only one in the world. I'm just on the phone to China and waiting on Kim Jong and Merkel to get back to me to make it official.

I think they are quite good, they can be a bit ott though, getting engaged after about 4 weeks of actually spending quality time together is silly.

I can see your point, but I do like them together & think they've got a interesting quality, but I do feel the s/l is being rushed through, engaged within a couple of weeks, Charlie wasn't even certain he wanted to be a dad last week!
My feeling is that this is building Ronnie up in to a false sense of security, giving her happiness and ultimately taking away, her being happy doesn't seem to work and I think Charlie might even have ulterior motives, especially once his mother turns up. |

Aw well, I've really liked them as a couple so far. Everyone always complains that EE is all doom and gloom and depression and it's been nice to see a genuinely sweet coupling for once.
I think they have tonnes of chemistry (best couple in that sense for years) so I'm interested to see where it goes. I agree that it may have been rushed but I think that the implication was that Charlie and Ronnie would end up together even from Charlie's very early scenes (you can see the groundwork being laid there). Hoping that this couple and Charlie's character in general doesn't get ruined over the next couple of months but we'll just have to see. |

I like Charlie and he is really excellent at flushing lumps of shit away so it is such a shame TPTB would not allow him to do the same with some stinking Philth that has been infecting the show for decades...

I love them tbh. The relationship should feel rushed as it hasn't had that much screen time due to Sam's other commitments over the summer, but it doesn't. The actors have great chemistry and it doesn't feel forced.
It is nice to see a couple like Ronnie and Charlie in the midst of all the doom and gloom everywhere else. I am enjoying seeing Ronnie happy. I like Charlie and the fact that this coupling means more scenes between Ronnie and Dot, which I always found sweet and endearing. Whatever the outcome of Nick's storyline, I hope tptb doesn't make Ronnie a killer again and I just hope they don't ruin the couple and the characters. Let the woman be happy for once. |
