Have I missed something? I'm not an avid viewer but she seems a lot younger than she's meant to be I think? Maybe it's just me.

Stacey seems a lot older than she is meant to be. Linda seems a lot younger. It's just a trait of their characters.

It's not just that, it's hard to explain but Nancy seems a bit challenged in someway. Sorry hard to explain it.

I hate Nancy! I really can't warm to the character, she makes me cringe, I don't really see the obsession with her!

I know many people like Nancy, in fact she reminds me of someone specific who is regrettably not in my life anymore. Childishness is a trait of her personality, which I personally find endearing. I think perhaps you might live too much of a sheltered life if you label someone mentally disabled for having a different personality than you've seen before.

I really don't get the love for her. She hasn't done anything impressive since she arrived and she just hangs about with Dexter.

I didn't label her mentally challenged but your term of childish does describe her slightly better than I did, I really can't fathom it out if it's characterisation or the actress. Some of the acting scenes when she was with her mum when she made her soup and sausage rolls was a bit weird.
