Wasn't one of the many problems in past seasons is that there aren't enough earth bound episodes?

I definitely agree with your other points, though, especially the day-tripper point. It's just not Doctor Who. The grumpiness is depressing, too.

I think a better mixture of other planets and Earth is needed.

In The Forest Of The Night might have been a better episode on another planet and without those Coal Hill kids and that godawful cheesy ending.

Some of these have been mentioned i think but heres my opinion

1. More 2 parters

2. I like the idea of a story arc but i dont want the stories of each episode to be secondary to the story arc. I want each episode to be standalone and you might get a small reference to the story arc. I dont want the story arc to determine what adventures the doctor goes on.

3. Clara or new assistant a FT companion

4. Stop trying to be so sophisticated cause you think you are being clever.

5. A third person travelling with the doctor who isnt romantically interested in the main companion

6. Give Capaldi a bigger role as the doctor rather than a secondary character to clara.

7. Get rid of the school teacher storyline. Im fed up of seeing the school children in episodes. I understand as a family show some episodes are aired at kids but i kids episodes are always naff and poor.

8. I have liked the tense relationship between the doctor and clara so if she stays id like to see disagreements continue. Perhaps he could reject her after 1 action too far. Next story he goes alone and finds out he needs her.

9. A new sontaran episode. Strax has sort of ruined their threat. Make them a enemy again.

10. New monsters please. Not lazy creations but a new one who could be the new daleks, cybermen, etc

How's about a Sontaran story featuring Strax, so we can see the character used as something other than comic relief, with him having to choose a side.

This is such a lazy cliche trotted out by fandom.

You try creating a new threat to go up against something so iconic.

Heck, the show itself has been trying almost since day 1. The Dominators and various other creations that screamed "We better have something to fall back on if the Nation estate refuses to play ball..." that viewers never took to.

Even if they did manage it, fandom would cry havoc about THEM being overused too, despite the fact they're probably appearing so much to give the Daleks a rest.
(This is already starting to happen with the Weeping Angels and their diminishing returns)

Besides, The Ood, the Weeping Angels, The Silence...we haven't done TOO badly in that regard since the return of the series...

I think two partners should be done if story justifies it. I do want another two part finale though.
