Me personally i think they should open it up more and bring in dances such as -

Street
irish
scotish
bhangra
scandanavian
contempory
Etc.

this way it will keep it fresh while attracting new viewers

Yeah, I somehow don't see any of those suggestions going down well with... anyone.

The thing is that in theory SCD is based on partner dancing.

If they introduce any of those styles they'd lose me as a viewer.

I wouldn't mind one week of non-standard dancers (like the Rock & Roll/ Lindy Hop/ Charleston week they had in Series 7)

I'd replace The Charleston with the Lindy Hop or Balboa. I don't find the Charleston attractive. Too much side-by-stuff. Basically get rid of anything that allows out of hold.

I used to do Irish dancing and grew up with it and I would hate to see it on Strictly. I just don't see how they could make it work.

Lindy definitely .

I was just thinking the other week a Swifty/Shake It Off-style contemporary dance could be interesting (or a dis-ah-star). Mind you, the thought of Alison doing one to Wuthering Heights is just...

I'd welcome some of these, but only in Showdances by celebs in the final. I feel the Showdances have become a bit rote recently (no Louis' Showdance wasn't Contemporary it was gymnastics bugger of). Imagine how much more interesting a Flamenco, or Jitterbug style Showdance would be compared to the usual Disco-Latin/Stage School Quickstep mess we usually get.

Well I won't be content until they start doing the Gay Gordons and the Military Two Step.

It has to happen.

I'm open to change.

They could change it so it is based on the 10 Ballroom and Latin dances and hire pros that are experienced at them.
That way you have a standard and a way of judging. There actually is a right way to do it and you could have an actual learning to dance competition as the basis for the show.

They could let the pros choose the music and choreography, so they can be invested in them and more invested in teaching their celeb properly. It would help the pro and celeb form a stronger alliance and create more emotional involvement.

OK those are not new - just a case of doing it better, but that's what I want - the Strictly concept, but done properly.

Same sex partners with two wimmin dancing round handbags. Unlikely to be popular with the purists who don't like props and unlikely to be popular with Len when they faff about going to the loo together at the end of the dance

How about polka as a group dance?

And never mind Len and his sweaty pampers, let's have a proper dance of pimps and prostitutes La Danse Apache.

Sounds good. I'll watch. Or are the people who would be interested in watching such a show out dancing several times a week having been inspired by SCD? [sort of like myself ]

When the show was first thought of the word in the title STRICTLY mean to indicate strict tempo dancing based on the 5 standard and 5 Latin dances. It's already left that behind with AT, salsa and Charleston, which is fair enough, but we don't need any more.

For anyone looking for street, hip hop, Commercial, etc look for Born to Dance somewhere on Sky (think it might be on BET, though not too sure).
