Need EE phone unlocking

Been trying to get our new IPhone 5 replacement unlocked from EE but they are not playing ball, we've been trying for two months. First of all they said they could only unlock the old phone, I said it broke and was replaced under Apple care. They finally gave in and let us submit the unlocking form. Two weeks go by, they couldn't find any trace of the unlocking form. Anyway this has gone on now for two months until today they tell us we are now out of contract so they can't do anything.
So what the hell do we do now? I wanted to give this phone to my niece for Christmas but she's on 02. I regret the day we ever decided to go near EE they have the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. How the hell they kept losing our unlocking forms I'll never know. So basically does anyone know how I can get this phone unlocked, will I have to pay an extortionate amount on eBay which can be touch and go from my previous experience with an iPhone 4. Appreciate any replies and I know you've all probably been asked this many times before.

You are going to have to keep on with EE, only they can unlock it.

Being out of contract isn't an issue for refusal, so take the complaint higher up.

Did you request the unlock online?

http://ee.co.uk/help/getting-started...ing-your-phone

Did you send the proof of phone replacement to the unlocking team?

Quote:
“REPLACEMENT PHONES

If you've had your phone replaced by your own insurer (or by Apple under the Apple warranty), we can still unlock your phone, but you'll need to send us proof that you’ve replaced it.

To do this, email an insurer's letter, along with your account and phone numbers to: EMT.Proofs@ee.co.uk”

If you have followed all the procedures correctly, consider sending a complaint to the Executive Office, or an email to the CEO. Lay out the details of the complaint, exactly what you have done and what you expect them to do, omit any hyperbole or personal observations of what your opinion is of EE or their procedures.

No my girlfriend requested one unlock online, the other two over the phone. I suppose that's where we went wrong we should have just kept banging in the online forms. And yeah we emailed them the replacement invoice for the new phone. It looks like a nicely worded email as per your reply to EE top brass to see if we can get anywhere with this. Thanks for your reply,

I agree with d123 EE is the only way unless you want to pay though the nose
You can get it done though eBay but it will cost you a lot
You wont wait as long as EE they are the worst company for Unlocking Iphones
Have a look at the link below to give you your shock.

God no! Go to a CEX if you have one in your town. It's only £20 for an iPhone.

CEX only unlock certain phones, an iPhone on EE for £20? I don't think so...

That price probably relates to an iPhone on O2 that can be done via eBay for around £10.

Thanks for all your replies, we phoned them again today just before I thought of writing the email. This time we got a nice lady in tech support that assured us that this time it would get done, but not to fill out an unlock form because our replacement phone is less than six months old. She got us to print out the email from Apple about the phone and sent us packing to the nearest EE shop because she said we couldn't email EE with the Apple email( I've no idea why) Anyway after a lengthy drive, we got a EE shop employee to ring them and so it began again. The EE shop employee was bewildered why we couldn't have emailed them from home, anyway with his help and with a helpful person on the other end of the line. We were assured that this time it will get done. So now we sit with baited breath and keep everything crossed. Thank you everyone for your replies and help, I'll post how we get on.

The sign in my CEX said "from £20*" (I didn't read the small print the * related to) and the last time I was in there they were upselling an unlocked iPhone 5 to a customer who wanted an EE Orange 4s unlocked as they couldn't unlock it.

This was only around 10 days ago as I was standing in the queue waiting to buy a Moto 4G they were selling quite cheap.
