If it's chip shop fish and chips, then salt, vinegar and ketchup.
If it's a pie or sausages, then gravy

If I'm stumbling home from a night out salt, ketchup and mayo.

If I'm out I tend to ask for ketchup and mayo for dunking.

If it's at home tends to usually be with something else like beans or gravy.

If it's at home and I'm having fries rather than fat chips it's got to be the nandos peri peri salt.

So many combos, not enough chips ”

Same here. Different combinations for different occasions / type of chips.

Another vote for..."It depends".

For a fish supper - salt and vinegar with mushy peas.

In Edinburgh - salt and sauce

After the pub - cheese or curry sauce

Pub lunch - home made coleslaw

I rarely make chips at home, I either make wedges with garlic, cayenne and paprika or oven chips which are rubbish so they get dunked in ketchup or mayo.

Maldon sea salt and either ketchup, Mayo or Thai chilli dipping sauce (I'm a bit of a chilli addict).

Salt and pepper. Sometimes sauce. Best to make them extra crispy as it is healthier though.

Loads of salt and vinegar (vinegar has to go on first) and either Mayo or brown sauce.

I don't eat chips at home - oven chips are just awful, and I think it's disgusting to have a deep fat fryer in your house. If I'm getting chips from the chippy; salt, vinegar and some mayo. If I'm having chips with a meal in a restaurant; salt and mayo, no vinegar.

What's disgusting about having a deep fryer in your house? I find that an odd comment.

I also find there are some good oven chips out there.

Malt vinegar and sauce (usually Tomato, but occasionally brown if I fancy a change).

The one thing I can't stand on chips is gravy. Gravy and chips should never be on the same plate. Who wants soggy chips? Boak!

Salt and vinegar as a rule.

But if I'm having a steak in a restaurant I love Bearnaise sauce to dip the chips into.

I used to think that so I decided to experiment. If you use McCain straight cut or crinkle and toss them in a bit of olive oil, sea salt and black pepper and bake on a high heat, turning once, it makes a huge difference and they are more than acceptable.

Usually just some sea salt. I can't stand vinegar.

I'll sometimes have some mayo on the side - one of my foibles is I like sauce WITH food, but not ON food
