Call me a misery if you like but - as much as I rely on the spoiler thread to find out the results before I go to bed - is it really necessary to start them so early???
This weeks was started on Friday!!
So those of us who just want to nip in and find the info they need have to wade through 20+ pages of garbage to get to the point of the actual thread!!
Just my opinion - don't shoot me for it

Why don't you begin at the end of the thread?

That's what I do. Its a party thread and I am never one to stop anyone having a party, even if I always arrive late, swipe the goody bag and leave!

Because usually even then it's just full of chatter. I agree with the OP, it's annoying having to wade through so much off-topic chatter. There should be a separate off-topic thread.

I always start at the end but still have to go back 4 or 5 pages of people having cups of tea etc. maybe I'm just a grump

This subject crops up every now and then and I thought the peeps who camp out in the spoiler thread came up with a plan to help.

Personally I'd just post and ask because the discussion continues even after the result is in.

If you want to determine the rules of the spoiler thread you are perfectly entitled to start your own rival thread and demand that posters follow your rules.

Much goes on in the spoiler thread between Friday and Saturday - for a start compilation of the spoiler time guess list, which many of us derive quite a lot of enjoyment from participating in.

If all you want to do is nip in and see the result, all you have to do is 'nip in' to the last page.

It would be kind if everybody copied the result after it is leaked.

If I remember correctly, it used to be agreed that the poster at the top of each new page repeated the result. That worked well and allowed people to chatter without making it difficult for those just dropping in for the result.

Simples! Go to the Appreciation forum Attic Cafe thread. The spoiler is always there, under tags, and the thread moves much more slowly

PS though I don't always post there, I love that spoiler thread and the ongoing party

I would like to say that I really appreciate those who go to the effort of giving and getting the spoiler for us. For some reason they seem to get a lot of flack from people who demand the result but have no sense of gratitude to those providing it, or those who query their veracity.

Surely it's a question of timing? Once the spoiler is actually in the conversation shifts from party-food to the result. If people are still talking about food then you know the result isn't in yet and you don't have to wade through any pages.

As a soft-hearted person I also appreciate the kindness in there. In marked contrast to the live show thread, people are generally respectful of each other and their favourites. It's only after the result is out that bickerings can occur as others come in to debate the results...

Actually the spoiler thread breaks the DS rules by being off topic most of the time before the result comes in. DS did give us an off topic thread which ran along the same lines as the spoiler thread, except is ran all week. It was set up after the BBC forum closed, but a lot of the posters from back then don't post any more. In the mean time, the spoiler thread grew as a party thread and so far DS has turned a blind eye.

Spot on. The Spoiler thread is the only place where the result can be discussed without fear of giving the game away. So the comments ramble (or rant) on once the result is out.

Anyways, thanks to the wonderful people who manages the spoiler thread (you know who you are ) and who make it One of the MOST enjoyable place in the forum

It's a lovely thread, in contrast to the live thread (specifically one poster who I won't name but is always vile and horrible about certain contestants!), and everyone generally has a laugh.

It's usually pretty easy to find the result.

That's a very good analogy for my behaviour too.

I don't mind a bit of a wade through OT posts. I'm just grateful to the people who go to such trouble to bring the spoiler to us.

Yup when I had the same moan as the OP (though hopefully a little more graciously ), the kind folks on the spoiler thread made sure the result was at the top of each new page, or as near as dammit.

Cool folks in there OP luckylady, you only have to ask. ETA: Or pay a visit to Pet's cafe apparently...all the best gossip can be had there it seems

Im a great supporter of the spoiler thread. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere and I would be sad if DS admin tried to interfere with it. They would do so at their peril

Last Saturday I was babysitting and missed the result coming through but I went to the end if the thread and within a couple of seconds I found out the result. Simples.

Cant see what the problem is.

Thanks for the spoiler. Much appreciated as always

If, and I mean IF a solution was necessary here's an idea. Create a locked sticky thread with just the result and a link back to here for the chinwagging, ranting, OMGing etc

Week x SPOILER result (locked) which points to Week x SPOILER discussion

It does seem that to complain about the good people who go to the trouble of tracking down someone with tickets, exchanging phone numbers, rushing to get their phone back after the show, relaying information by text - sometimes via two or three exchanges and post on here, is to bite the hand that feeds us.

Isn't complaining about the fact that they enjoy some banter and their virtual sweepstake while waiting a bit like gate crashing a party and demanding they change the music?

Also there is a need to keep posting chatter on the spoiler thread or else it will sink down to page 2 or beyond and no bugger will be able to find it. So the party banter actually serves a vital service. and is more interesting than wading through 250 posts all saying "bump".

Thank you spoiler threaders.

This weeks was started on Friday!!”

If you check, I think you'll find that the first post in this week's thread was to inform everyone that we had secured the services of a mole. This is direct contrast to last week when there was some doubt on the matter. As for checking the result quickly, simply start at the last page around the 10.30pm mark and you'll soon see if the result is in. If not try again in (say) ten minutes time. - Simples.

One answer is to keep the one spoiler thread going all series.
