I have a few questions about Missy too:

1) Did she fall in love with the Doctor once she became a woman, or was their something always there ....

2) Why use the human race to annoy the Doctor again - he/she is like a dog with a bone ...

3) When and where did she escape Gallifrey. If she escaped after/during Day of the Doctor, then presumably she has a TARDIS. I say this as I am assuming it was still her who went back in time and was "the lady in the shop"?


Can I just add, these are just questions - whether they get explained or not is irrelevant - and I won't be upset if some/none of them do

Perhaps after the events of the End of Time, the Master only existed as a consciousness in the hard drive. He then plans to upload Clara's mind to the Nethersphere so he could inhabit her body, who grows old to become the woman who we visually interpret as Missy.

It dodges the regeneration bullet, though, which would be a shame...and it really doesn't answer why. It also involves timey-wimey, which Moffat has done well to avoid this series.

My prediction (because the show usually goes for the more obvious solution over the more interesting) is simply that Missy has seen into Clara's timeline, knew that Danny Pink died and thus chose her to be the one who would bring The Doctor to her.

I think she will be revealed as the one that gave Clara the phone number, hence the "choosing" of her.

I think you're right, Danny should definitely be dead and I think he is. As you say the school has mourned him, the woman who got blasted Inside The Dalek was certainly dead. Roboman died on the spire of Big Ben and the Trashman got evaporated as well.

It's not The Master's style to save people and make it look like they have died a la Time Heist.


I'm thinking that maybe The Master chose Clara to be his conduit to The Doctor. We all know there's nothing more he likes than showing The Doctor how clever he is. He plants Danny, knowing he will die and gets him entwined in Clara's life, knowing she will be desperate to get him back when he dies.

Therefore luring The Doctor into his trap and into the Lion's Den.

However the whole Clara monologue to the Cyberman in the trailer for this/next week might put shot to that. Although Rule Number One at the moment seems to be 'The Trailer Lies'


I think that was addressed in the episode. The Doctor turns to Clara and says 'We're not where Danny is, but we are where the TARDIS thinks your timestream and his are most likely to be entwined again.

Danny is dead at a time when people's minds are being uploaded to a big databank, so the TARDIS picks the only place where there is an active connection between the living world and that databank. The place where the research was being carried out.

Another big question is:

Since it was a Moffatt cliffhanger, how far forward will episode 1 jump and how long into it will the resolution eventually be hand waved away in a flashback.

You can imagine the final ep starting with The Doctor, River, Madam Vastra, Jenny, Strax, Jack, and Kamelion sitting around laughing and talking about the time
"remember when The Master came back as a woman?"
"Oh yeah, we got out of that by poisoning a lot of people with gold thus infecting the Cybermen's food supply, I wasn't happy about going to that length but the alternative was Cyber-Master rule. So, Tell me River, why are you REALLY here"
