TV in bedroom - how to get Sky HD & other boxes etc such as multi satellite receiver
and PS3 etc remotely streamed/sent to it,
Trying to go back to the "teenage bedroom" scenario that I had before moving into a flat. Thinking of buying a friend's TV to get wall mounted in a bedroom so I can again watch TV from bed. The only thing is I somehow need to get Sky HD etc sent from the living room and get some sort of remote control forwarder so I can flick channels in bed? Is this possible to do wirelessly without resorting to cables? I have Sky HD/Multi Satellite receiver for European satellite channels, and a PS3. |

You can get various solutions for routing the existing satellite chs to a different room such as a bedroom, tho I think it's more trick, more expensive now on latest sky kit as they removed the RF connection.
If u did go down that route both rooms would be limited to seeing the same channel. So if discovery ch were selected on the actual sky box, that would also be what's seen on the 2nd screen. The same limitation would apply to any set top box, eg freesat, other satellite system, freeview as well. The only way to have different sky channels on at the same time is to have a 2nd sky box, with a sky multi room subscription (unless it's a free sky ch in which u only need the 2nd sky box, but not a multi room sub). Likewise with other satellite equipment, to have different chs on at the same time would require a 2nd box. Freeview is built into modern TVs now so esch tv has its own built in box. |

Luckily wouldn't need a different channel as I'm here on my own, just need the picture sending but not just from the Sky HD box which is the tricky bit, but also a non Sky satellite box for Astra 1/Hot Bird etc and the remote controls.
I use the 4 port switch here to send 4 different boxes to a kitchen TV using a single modulator http://www.cabling4less.co.uk/category.php?cat_id=162 Alternatively chain a pair of modulators to give you two analogue channels to tune into. Just use a separate ir remote repeater like the powermids for remote control. If you have a smart phone/tablet you may find a wireless remote control app for your kit. |

You could just use a cheap (<£30) video sender provided box and tv have scart or AV sockets. Would only get SD quality though but that is not such a big deal unless tv in bedroom is large.

If you have an aerial point then your half way there.
If not run WF100 cable from RF 2 OUT on your sky box to tv and a magic eye to switch channels etc If you want HD then run HDMI cable and a 1 IN & 2 OUT hdmi splitter. Get a powered one or the sky box wont work, I have a 25 metre hdmi 1.4cable on mine & it works fine |
