Why is Missy dressed in Victorian clothes?

For what reason? Capadi's outfit also has a similar time period feel.

Generally considered to be Edwardian, and why not? Time Travellers and their whacky sartorial sense...

Why is doc 12 dressed like a magician? My point being the dress style could be something significant, but more likely is just to do with the taste and eccentricity of this particular incarnation of the master/mistress

I think because seeing the Master wearing a revealing play suit would be just taking it too far too soon.

I think it might be a Mary Poppins vibe, for American audience.

Because like Little Britain's Emily Howard, that's how the Master thinks ladies dress (at least in my head canon).

That would actually be hilarious

When I saw her sat on the steps in the trailer it wasn't Mary Poppins that came to mind,, but Eliza Doolittle. And as Eliza was taken from her life by Professor Higgins to be 'improved' and introduced to a whole new life that left her floating, unable to slip back into her old life but not quite belonging to the new one.. I thought that was going to be some link to the companions.

But, as we know who she is now, that doesn't fit.

I got this vibe too.

I wondered if Missy dressing in this old fashioned style had something to do with her interacting with victorian Clara.

Why not? She's clearly fashioned herself after Mary Poppins for some reason (which is more Edwardian than Victorian) and i'. Not sure we need an explanation for it. The Master has always dressed in black and fairly smartly - maybe she just liked the way it looked.

Me too, fairly sure it is deliberate. Perhaps she'll start 'feeding the Birds' at St Pauls!!!

There's no reason why she shouldn't of course as the style is quite attractive but the Master was dressed in modern clothing last time he appeared. I just wondered if there was a reason for it.
